Don, where in the oil pan are you talking about mounting it with a reducer?  At the drain plug--or somewhere else?

By the way, thank you for the information on the gauge, Grover.

Thanks Don.  If you had just said that it's the plug right below the dead cat, you could have saved yourself the trouble of posting the picture.  I appreciate it though.

the plug in question is a 3/8 NPTthe sending unit will most likely be eiter 1/8 NPT or 1/4 NPT either adapter can be found at your local home improvement store

Naitram/Twolane - thanks for the info on the oil pan and that guide for dummies...relocating the sending unit to the underside with a reducer should work well.  The only other option I can think of would be tapping into the feed line that exits the oil filter body and goes into the oil cooler.  Yet another HD roadblock solved by you guys! - PJ

The big question from the peanut gallery: does the guage work with a reasonable degree of accuracy? Maybe compared to the LED dipstick, realizing of course different sensor locations. I'll buy the beer for the first user(guinna pig) that responds. [smiley=drink.gif]

The hydraulic line is just a minor "in the way" issue and does not have to be modified - bent. You just have to wiggle the cover in.

The problem with the cover is that you cannot get the trans dipstick out with the cover on.

I have it, and it is not a big deal. Whenever I change the tranny fluid I remove the cover for a couple of days until I am sure the fluid level is correct. After all, the bikes don't "use" trans fluid, unless there is a leak, and then
