Post #1 is to sell their CVO. Post #2 is a new member intro (after Dood instructs them to do so).

That's actually stage 2, stage 1 is not knowing they need to. Then they hear from you!

Actually many newbies make the mistake of asking an "important to them" Question in there "New Member Introduction" which doesnt get answered, but generally they receive a few pages of "Welcome" replies

Having read this thread did any of you look back and read your own 1st posts?

I did and am glad to report that my 1st entry was to introduce myself in NMI

Hmmm, I had thought previous to this thread that the CVO owners and forum were a cut above the "other" Harley forums.  Having ridden for over thirty years and participated on car/motorcycle forums since they started, I think it's an accurate statement that it's sad when those who rack up thousands of posts have to make themselves feel good by berating those who just came aboard or refrain from posting "me too" to every thread that gets posted. :(

:2vrolijk_21:  Right on.  Post count says nothing about you and your riding.  Try to see the benefit in the board and recognize that there are some of us (unlike this guy above who seems to think that critizing you is "just having some fun at your expense") who aren't gonna judge you for your post frequency or questions asked.

Not to defend any of the statements or posts that have been made in this thread but there is a reason (IMO) that it is the "Humor" board. If you can't have fun/crack jokes w/on your friends then who can you? If you've ever been to one of the GTG's you'd know that no  (I hope... again IMO) ill will was meant by any of the comments. Hell if I got mad or upset about every wise crack that my FRIENDS on CVOHarley cracked on me I wouldn't be here... but I consider them my friends... they get their shots in when they can... I get mine in when I can. Take the thread for what it is.... Humor.

I never look at the humor stuff, but he title intrigued me and when I saw it was JC's I just had to open it  ;D

Got me wondering too - just what did I post 7600+ posts ago...

I had been on the site lurking a bit before I bought the bike. After a few days of ownership I posted;
"Is it just me or does the seeg bike not ride as well as...."  :huepfenjump3:

Took two replies before Brian yelled at me  :o

And looking through the thread I think every responder was a SEEG owner.
Of course, since I was a newbie, Brian Harry and Chip must have been ignoring me. And the guy with the funny hat never jumped in either  :nixweiss:

Please don't let one little thread in the humor section alter your view.  Members on this forum (unlike any of the others that I have/am a member on) get together and ride together often, sometimes crossing state lines and international boundries to do so.  Come on out and get to know some of these people then form an educated opnion.....we're really a pretty accepting and helpful bunch here. :2vrolijk_21:

There are a lot of camping forums and I only belong to one
There are a lot of truck forums, I belong to 3, but soon will only use one (BTW, thanks for the comment JC)

Sometimes it's tough to be the new kid on the block and since most people want to be liked it can be unpleasant to be made fun of. I think it really comes down to your comfort level with those poking the fun at you. When you are new the comfort level is fragile and so newbies are likely to be more sensitive. I am relatively new here but as I get to know the members and they see me for the cut up fun lover that I am I hope we enjoy each others company. Communicating with typed text only is not the same as the face to face where the whole art of communication is more than words.

Newbies hang on and learn to laugh and veterans remember what it's like to be a freshman. :)

One other note and I'll get off my :soapbox:

Other then a quoted post today (Brian that was some funny chit :D :D) none of the quotes in this thread have been from other threads which could/would imply that a particular member was being made fun of. Hell for the most part some of those posting could be making fun of themselves. :nixweiss:

I went back, and found out I never did introduce myself  (where was d00d) back then.

my original post was fairly tame and not "blue" .

That came 6 months later.

CONGRATS ON THE NEW BIKE!
I picked mine up in November and ever since weather has been horrible in southeastern PA.
The Kuryakyn lights worked?  My dealer was not sure they would with the electrical system on 08's.
If I ever get to ride again, I need to break in (only have 30 miles on bike) and see what pipes and tuner to put on next. very anxious to get out, but nothing but cold rain and snow and salt. Do not want to ride that bad yet!

One of my first posts, before I even got the bike... :huepfenlol2:

Read about this stuff on http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/glare-polish/glare-polish.htm    It's called GLARE.  I've got a new SE Ultra coming in May, so thought I would get a jump on protecting things. Haven't tried it on a bike yet, but tried some on my car and it is absolutely UNBELIEVEABLE    You can purchase it directly from them...it ain't cheap, but it's worth it if it lasts as long as they claim.  Read the review on the link above, then go to the one below to see all the products they offer...it really is something entirely different from anything on the market.  They even claim it will penetrate the clear coat and bond to the base.

JC,

I thought you knew the layout of this site. If you look to the left under the members name it shows a date that says "Member since".

If that date is new then presume they are a newbie. DUH!

If that "Member since" date is like JCs then assume they know how to kickstart a bike and you may find a post under their I.D. that is amazed that the CVO's have an electric starter.

Posts count doesn't matter in all cases. (Who has the Oldest "Member since" date with the least number of Posts? (Naitram - query this please.))

Newbie questions:

How do I post a picture?

Why can't I post more than 1 picture?

I think my dealership lied!

If most members in the last month have more time riding the toilet seat than you do riding your Corbin seat then you might be a Newbie.

(What's a Corbin seat?)

Newbie reactions:

Boy, the Dragon sure has a lot of winding curves.

I thought this forum didn't have the A-Holes like the other forums.

Everybody's question:

Why do we have so many A-Holes on this forum? (A-Hole; A matter of perspective!)
