Serious?  There in the corner of the Raley's shopping center?  We ate there about a month ago.  Been to the one here in Elk Grove a couple of times, too.  Good burgers and good fries.

Now if you like cheese burgers, Guy Fieri says the best cheese burger in the nation is also here in Sacramento.  The first time I ate at the original Squeeze Inn was about 1985.  Last year they moved around the corner on Power Inn Rd. to a much larger and newer place.....(click on the link then click on the video and turn your volumn up).....  http://www.thesqueezeinn.com/media/

Oddly enough the best burger that I have eaten lately was at Shorty's Bar and Grill outside Osan Air Base in South Korea. Now it's been awhile since I have been to the states but these are good.

We got a Five Guys locally about a year ago and its pretty good. I was just in AZ and tried In and Out and wasn't impressed. Service was out of this world but the burger was just ok. However, I stumbled on a small place called Fatburgers in Phoenix that had one of the best I ever had. 1/2 lbs burger patties available in doubles or triples with every topping you could imagine. I had to roll outta the place! I'm still trying to work it off.

This place has one of, if not THE best burgers on the planet.  It's a great ride from Austin (about an hour).  With green chiles, avacado, bacon, and cheese - it's a LOAD.  Their hand made onion rings are also world class.  Fortunately it is a long way off the main roads so the crowd is mostly locals and die-hard burger fans.

It is possible that I've had a better burger and just don't remember, but there is a place in Arlington, TN called Off the Hoof and their burgers are great.  I'm usually not one to go out for a burger 'cause I usually think that I can make better at home, but I look forward to Off the Hoof at least a couple times a month!  You can order 4 oz., 6 oz., 8 oz., up to 16 oz. and then pick your cheese, add thing like grilled onions, jalapenos, etc.  They serve onion straws, breaded french fries, cheese fries, and the frickles (fried pickles) are great too.  Are you hungry yet?

(Those 12 cent burgers at Dairy Queen when I was a yound kid were pretty good too, but it was probably because that was about the only place where we got to go out to eat and that was rare!)

This is the Mushroom Burger from Joe's...  he opened this place in 1965 with 160 Square Feet. I sat next to Joe while I ate and he told me the whole history of the Burger, the French Fry. Just a great experience and great burger. http://www.joescablecarrestaurant.com/index.html

Here's the Squeeze Cheese Burger from the Squeeze Inn. What makes this burger unique is how they "grill" the cheese. It's amazing!

The Chef's Table is in Rocklin... Off Blue Oaks and Lonetree.

http://www.chefdavidstable.com/

It's not a burger joint and the menu changes daily... small place and reservations suggested for dinner. Open for lunch too... GET THE PESTO FRIES!!!!  Oh my... another fave of mine there are the chicken tacos. Everything I've ever had there is amazing. Call ahead if your heart is set on the Glazed Donut Burger... they have been known to do a "one off" for me and other customers even if it's not on the daily menu. Really great place all around.

Here's the Tomato Bisque Soup with Scallops and Caviar I had a few month's ago... Seriously amazing food here.

They do and in Galt, too.  But the owner is always at the one on Power Inn.  It's an industrial area....same as the one in Galt.  But the lines are anything from blue jeans and t-shirts to suits to women in dresses and high heels......and there's always a line out the door (moves fairly well, though).  It's an experience:2vrolijk_21:

Five Guys?!!  Wow, you haven't lived until you visit this place in Chicago.

http://www.kumascorner.com/

Just look at the menu!!!  Metal.  Burgers.  Craft Beer galore.  Sure, it's a 2 hour wait pretty much anytime of any given day, but there's a reason Playboy (and others) rated it the best burger in America!

What entails "Animal Style"?  I tried normal style, everything, and it wasn't anything more than merely average, imho.

If I told you it wouldn't be a secret anymore, but here it is...http://www.badmouth.net/in-n-outs-secret-menu/

Get the burger and fries "animal style" next time and enjoy.  :2vrolijk_21:    Doc

Hey JC - Wife and I rode up to Napa early today (beautiful riding weather) and saved our lunch appetite for a first time try back at the Squeeze Inn, Roseville .. WOW,, 5 Guys was number one on my burger list but i dont think anyone can beat a Squeeze Burger.. We sat at the Squeeze Burger bar and enjoyed our awesome burgers while watching the burger guy perform his magic cooking them up... I cant believe they must use at least a pound of cheese on each burger, and I love their Ice trick.. We couldn't leave Squeeze without buying one of their famous Squeeze T-Shirts. Anyone out for a good burger, you gotta try this place, and defiantly sit at the burger bar, you'll tottaly be entertained watching how they cook these up..   :2vrolijk_21: And for all you East Coaster,, Yes its worth the ride just to try a Squeeze Inn Burger..    :2vrolijk_21:

If you ever in Vegas.  http://www.hashhouseagogo.com/  in The Imperial Palace.  Outstanding 1lb burgers stuffed with several different menu items.  Don't stop with the burgers, the whole menu is outstanding.  They call it Twisted Farm food.  Bring friends and share because the portions are HUGE.
I can't pass an IN-n-OUT or a Five Guys.  Both are great.
Smashburger, Fatburger, are all good.
Goldies in Oklahoma was good too but I was drinking a lot more back then, so I might remember it better than it actually is.

I can remember going up there during high school.  It was one of those "escape" places to get out of town for an evening.  Bright, clean and great greasy spoon food.  Last time there was four or five years ago.  Unfortunately then the place was a dump.  Dirty (and not in a good way) and the bathroom was so disgusting that even guys noticed it.

Go south of I-70 at Casey, Illinois, a place called Moonshine, IL.  They just did their Moonshine Lunch Run this past week-end.  Most people don't know anything about it, and could not find  Moonshine  if they had too. http://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/Default.asp

The White Grill was totally remodelled this year.  In fact, it just won the community betterment award.

A few years ago, Bill Goldberg and The Big Show from WWE stopped to visit.  They agreed the White Grill was the best, anywhere.

One way or another I am going to make my way across I-10 from Dago to Moss Pt MS in a month.

Suggestions for burger joints along that route ?

Also a truck stop that serves up a great Chicken Fried Steak ?

Thanks
