King Tour Pack
« on: May 18, 2010, 01:17:08 PM »

FINALLY got my tour pack back from the painters!  Looks great, especially since cost for paint work was $0!
 :2vrolijk_21:

Still need to install luggage rack, light for rack, tail light/side light chrome, back rest, speaker pods, lock, antennas and chrome hinges.  That reminds me.  Don't we have an expert hinge installer on the site?
 :nixweiss:

I'll post more pics after it's finished.

Also, if anyone is wondering how I got the Scremin' Eagle logo since it's VIN protected and it doesn't apply to my bike, I got the VIN off a Silver and Blue 09 SEUC at the last MV gathering.  Hope he doesn't need one soon!

Tour pak looks great, and you can't beat the price of the paint work. :2vrolijk_21:

My dealer won't do that for me, and even if he would they want an old part. I gave up and got the new light kit and that space is filled with LEDs.

Looks good.

Looks good Tommy!
I like this picture, your head looks just about where you keep it!  ;)
Why don't you and Judy ride up to Copperhead next weekend if you can get a room.
There will be a few of us there and as you know, the roads are great but the company is better!

Looks good Tommy!
I like this picture, your head looks just about where you keep it!  ;)
Why don't you and Judy ride up to Copperhead next weekend if you can get a room. There will be a few of us there and as you know, the roads are great but the company is better!

If I could, I'm sure it wouldn't be the one I reserved!  ;)

I thought the tour pak looked good but after a second look I noticed the tour pak rack is not centered.
It's a shame to drill holes in a nice new tour pak and not get them centered.
But even with the off centered rack that tour pak is a nice addition to your bike.

Hi ! It's a real great job but when will you put pictures (or a video) of the tour pack fitted on the bike, so we can see the final result of this great improvement. :worthless:

Looks great.  Looks like you used the speaker pods from the OEM leather tour pak on the King--was it difficult to hook-up the wiring and mount the pods?

No, I used speaker pods from a king TP.  Wiring was no problem, same connectors.  The only problem I had was the passenger headset connector.  The king speaker pods use a din plug/harness that mounts on the bottom of the pod with a small bracket.  Couldn't find a used one and Harley wanted $384 for a new plug/harness.  So I drilled a hole in the pod and used the connector out of the leather TP pod.  Worked fine.

Wow!  Nice solution and thanks for the information.  The pods fit so well to your King tour pak I'm glad to know they're the King tour pak units and not the different ones used on the CVO leather tour pak--I just sold a CVO Ultra tour pak and was beginning to regret not keeping the pods and using them on the King tour pak w/o pods that I have.

The price you quoted for the headset harness from HD is startling.  You posted a WTB and I replied with the p/n for the passenger headset connector/harness from the BAMI kit I installed.  Sorry that didn't work for you.

Again, very nicely done.

It looks a lot better than my left saddle bag.  Dropped the bike today in a gravel parking lot in Grand Teuton Nat. Park.  Bag and lid will have to be replaced.
