Dealer policies vary.  The shop I work with would be the same.  But what about a trip to a distance destination?  I don't know.

As a matter of fact......it happened to me.  Coming back from Sturgis I had just left Yellowstone and was in Idaho (a long way from California) when the cam chain tensioner shoes failed.  I guessed what it was, right away.

Having HOG Road Service, I called for a flat bed and they hauled it to the nearest dealership......about 35 miles away.  Sure enough, I was right.  And they could have it fixed by Tue (this was Sat evening).  I quickly calculated lodging costs, lost work, etc. etc. and then, what if there were some issues with the work done.....I'd have to bring it back to them to get it corrected.

I rented a car and had them ship my bike via the HD shipper.  And now my bike was with somebody that I knew and trusted.  Shortly there after, I went with the Freedom cams and haven't looked back since.  My dealership still stands behind the extended warranty.......of course, I've never had motor issues, since, either.

who did the dyno??

Eric at Carolina Harley in Gastonia made my map for my SERT (6 hours of dyno time). He believes it is my pipes being a 4 step header type as he has not seen these type of numbers with " such long pipes". They are Caliber from Sampson, not crazy loud but a different sound that I can only describe as paddle paddle paddle.

an HD cam change will be covered, but an aftermarket cam change won't be.

Won't be covered and odds are you won't have to worry about it being covered.

Well, I've been reading up on the cam choices here and I've put together a set 0f the HD 255's and II have been running a true dual exhaust with kerker supertraps.

My question is on a map, would you go with a SERT or the PCIII?  Does anyone have a map that is close for this set up to run for a while and give a good starting point for tuning later?

Appreciate any thoughts or help.
