If you insist on a replacement engine will HD insist on getting the old one?  Here's my thinking, get the replacement engine, still in the crate and sell it on eBay.  Use the new found booty to finance the build of the original engine.  Good luck with it.  I feel your pain.  I'm wondering if I'm riding on borrowed time.

The funny part is my replacement engine was tossed in a box on its side with some packing peanuts.  That's what the Moco thinks of this engine.  I've heard several fins were damaged during shipment of other replacements. If you use HD motor rebuild program, they send a nice plastic crate/ pallet to use.

What if you want a new 110 engine but trade it up to the jims...?
Just a thought, as I am nearing the magic mileage point, my 2 years is up in September..

I suggested that to Ken as an option. He could get a new 110 from MoCo under warranty. Dealer owes him all the labor to swap it out. Install the Jims 120 instead with the labor allowance, and stick a brand new crated 110 with your S/N in your garage. You have a brand new spare motor that you could swap out if you were to ever sell the bike. It'll cost him about double though, to have the pleasure of storing a brand new HD Edsel Engine! ;)

I'd tell HD, You keep the pos110, fully credit (cost of new 110 plus r&r) me towards the cost of the jims with the 110, and I'll pay the difference...fair, no?  Sock cuckers....

So the pricing to unstack the 110, convert the crank bearing, replace the flexi-crank with good crank, new rods, cans, flow the heads, rockers, springs, t/b, injectors, push rods and other sundries would be cheaper than swapping the cost of the 110pos towards the jims?

I plan on a rebuild...After I got a huge azz pile of crud hangin aft on the jug..

That might make the crank run out a diamond in the rough for him if he sells the replacement OEM.  I think HD should offer lifetime warranty on the head gaskets if it's been fixed under warranty.  My wife's Suburu has that and we got one side gasket replaced a few months back on on an 8 year old car with 90k miles on it.  It's a known problem with the Suburu head gaskets and there is a dealer TSB on it but they are fixing each one.

With the rebuild, if authorized by HD that way, they pay all the labor. If the dealer's working with you, they can use what ever parts you want, and put the stock POS 110 parts on their shelf, and credit you for all those parts. I would think a new 113 built under w.....ty shoudn't be more than 3-4 grand out of pocket that way. A new Jims 120 is about $6800 plus freight. Installation would be covered. So you're talking roughly double to have a Jims 120 and a spare 110 vs. a dealer built 113. ;)

Just a thought, as I am nearing the magic mileage point, my 2 years is up in September..

I've been through all that brain damage. I'm hoping by just doing the rebuild, i'll have $3,500-$4,500 in it. hopefully $3,500, but you know how that goes. I could buy a Jims at $6,800-$7,200 and tell HD to replace the 110. Then I'd have two engines, one HD 110, in the crate still, brand new. That means I'd have $3,400 in the new HD 110 engine. Even if you gave me $3,400 for the new 110, I'd rather have the 113 than the Jim's 120. Would you give me $3,400 for a brand new 110???

Plus, I've got a black v-rod I need to sell. Plus a 30' camper, and an ultralight aircraft. i'd rather have the $$.  ;D

That's cool Ken, I had no idea you had that.  It's been years since I've flown a plane.

That thing actually has a canopy.  Never flew an ultralight that wasn't open.  Where's the fun without the bugs :nixweiss: ?
