Well I'm struggling with my 2010 SE Ultra audio system. If anyone has a 2010 wiring diagram from the advanced HK audio wiring in the SE Ultra it would be really helpful.

It looks like HD changed the wiring in the 2010 SEUC from the 2009. There is no longer a stock audio wiring harness with an overlay harness to handle the rear amp. It looks like there's now a single wiring setup which makes things abit more difficult.

I made my TP detachable and was planning to simply drop the rear amp from the bike. I have already installed a Biketronics Titan Amp plus their Titan XL speaker up front (they sound phenomenal). To get the audio signal from the radio to the Titan amp and from speakers, I disconnected the right and left channels from the wiring harness and connected them to the Biketronics system. This is a great improvement of the front stock setup on the 2010 SEUC. Unfortunately those right and left channels were the main feeds to the rear amp.

The rear amp then provided audio signals to the front and rear speakers. Now I only have front audio which is fine with the TP off, but I can't figure out how to re-wire audio to the rear speakers. There must be a rear speaker audio output on the HK radio even though they aren't used in the SE setup directly from the radio. If I could tap into the rear outputs from the radio, I could send the signal to the rear amp (which I could reattach to the TP) and then I would have power to the rear speakers.

With the new wiring setup I don't think there's anyway to power the rear speakers without using the HD Rear amp. Does anyone have any recommendation or have access to the 2010 audio wiring schematics? Thanks for any assistance.

Strange that they would change the harness like that as not all Ultras have the rear amp, and it's not like them to make changes that make things more difficult/expensive for themselves!  :nixweiss:  Have you looked inside the rear speaker pods to see how they've done it there?  On 09 and earlier, there's a little extra male and female plug harness that goes inline to "inject" the extra wires....

I agree...it is very strange. I have opened both rear speaker pods. There is no alternative connector to plug into the speaker. The only connection available to plug into the rear speakers comes from the large gang plug that attaches to the rear amp. No rear amp... no audio signal to the rear speakers.

Since I used the audio outputs from the radio to power the front speakers, there's also no audio signal to the rear amp. So even if the amp is plugged in and the rear speakers are connected, there's no audio signal for the amp to send to the speakers.

I tried some experimenting last night. Tell me if this is crazy. I connected the Biketronics right and left inputs AND the rear speaker amp left and right channels into the same (left and right) outputs from the radio harness in the fairing. With the rear amp and rear speakers connected, I had all four speakers working and the radio fader "functioned" as well. Essentially the rear fader only faded the rear speakers since the front speakers are now powered by the BT's amp.

If this setup is OK it should allow me to still have the TP detachable (once I figure out how to attach the rear amp to the new TP bracket) since the rear speakers, antennas and amp are all "Plug & Play". The dealer has already made a single gang plug for all the electricals (brake light, TP LEDS, 12v plug, interior light, & saddle bag lights). So if this wiring for the amp works without throwing an error code (or blowing up the radio???), it should enable me to have four speakers working when the TP is attached and 2 high powered speakers up front whether or not the TP (rear amp) is attached.

Anyone see a problem with the same L/R outputs from the radio driving both the front and rear amps/speakers???

I thought that I had once played with proximity alerts and they really slowed down the system to the point it would not redraw the maps.  Maybe that was on my 2730.  Do you know if these affect your unit response?

Bill, why do I suspect you've either a) been sampling strange substances or b) posted to the wrong topic?  ;D

I'm baffled. With a rear amp installed and all channels active, the front and rear outputs would need to be used in order for the fader to work. The front outputs are in the 23 pin connector (pins 1, 16, 17,and 18)  in the back of the radio, the rear outputs are located in the 35 pin connector (pins 1, 2, 24, 25). Even if HD changed the harness, this configuration remains on the radio.

Be sure you did nor tap into the rear outputs for the new amp.

You may also want to consider installing pre-amp outputs

If you still need any help, give us a call (www.ironcrossaudio.com)

I'm equally puzzled. I essentially used the exact same outputs from the radio that run the stock 2010 SEUC audio wiring configuration. I assume these are the front speaker outputs from the radio. I was unsure what wiring from the radio are the rear outputs so I thought I would try running both the front Biketronics amp and front speakers AND the rear HD amp and rear HD speakers from the same radio outputs.

This approach actually worked and resulted in the radio fade functioning as well (although obviously it only fades the rear channel since the front speaker outputs coming from the rear amp are not being used). I assume the factory harness has the radio sending a "fade" signal to the rear amp that is actually do the fading instead of the radio amp.

Can you provide me with the rear output wiring colors in the 35 pin connector (pins 1, 2, 24, 25) that represent the left and right speakers (+ & - as well). I assume these leads dead end somewhere since they are not currently used by the rear amp. How will these rear HK outputs be seen by the rear amp since it normally only uses the front channel for driving both front and rear speakers?

Thanks, others might find it useful as well. I'll be giving you a call.

Seems the wiring diagram and the real world bike wiring are in a bit of conflict. The previous post by us may be partially inaccurate. We are currently working with "Heatwave" to nail down the actual wiring and what needs to be done to accomplish his desired outcome. As soon as we have all the facts in place, we will post the results.

Actually I very pleased with the Biketronics Titan amp and Titan XL speakers. Far superior to the stock audio. I finaally figured dout how to wire the Titan amp and also get rear audio, but it requires using the rear amp in addition to the new Titan amp.
