Whenever I'm not bunched up in traffic... or when I'm not out by myself enjoying the twisties...  Mainly, only when I'm grabbing a drink of coffee, or pulling the Gatorade from the saddlebag holder.   8)

I like to use it when on the highway. I like to travel 9mph over the speed limit and then speed up or slow down when needed. Mostly like to ride way ahead of all the cages!

I actually use it quite a bit. A lot on the highway, and when I'm riding in group rides I will fiddle with it a lot... sort of as a little game to see how closely I can match the speed of the bike in front of me, to keep from getting bored when we're out on a highway with nothing much to do but follow.

I use it a lot on the open highway when not traveling with a group.  When traveling with a group if I am not the lead bike I have found I am constantly adjusting trying to match the speed of others especially in a hilly area.

I use it all the time when I am not riding in tight formation or in heavy traffic.  It is easy to adjust speed up and down, and easy to quickly disengage without hitting the brakes.

Kinda depends on what kind of riding you do.  Mostly around town and rare trips less than 1-2 hours probably could get by without cruise.

I use mine nearly every time I ride.  It's the single most used "accessory" I have, and I'll never have a road bike without cruise again.

Didn't they just elect a new one of those in Rome?....... :o ;D ::)

Sorry, just a little bit of humor this morning.....very little...... :bananarock:

As far as cruise control, use it all the time.  Mainly on the highway but it's also good to use on curvy/backroad trips where you need to rest the wrist once in a while.  Great invention, IMO.

Whenever possible......................I love it and it works great.
It was the reason I even looked at a touring bike in the first place. But one test ride on one had me sold within 2 miles. DAMN dealer demo rides.

Use mine all the time when I'm on the "super slabs".  (VA State Police have speed traps all over the place.)  Never use it when I'm cruising the back roads though.

Interstate only. And, I avoid Interstate highways whenever possible. But, coming across on I-80 or I-70 it sure is nice to have.

Highways and long streches on roadways with little traffic.
Sometimes in a group travelling on long straight strecthes, just for a change up.

Hiway running, all the time. Almost wish I had shut it off while traveling SW Montana on I-15. Coming around a corner and the overhanging rocks blotted out the sun and I couldn't see how bad the road was. A wee bit of fish-tailing through the uneven road but I guess it would have happened with or without the cruise enabled.

I don't get to use it often, there is just too much traffic around here.  What with the semi's doing 85-90 down the hills and 50 going up, the traffic is always surging and then backing up.  But when I do get the chance, I really enjoy it.

Thanks for all the responses.

Remember waaaaay back when they only had crank up windows and you finally got a car with power windows? To me it's like the same thing. You can't imagine ever going back.

I ride one handed a lot so it's nice to give my throttle hand a break on those long rides.

On two long trips both times my cruise control stopped working. >:(

Both times it was the switch and both times it happened after it rained. No I am not  :jack:....lol.I started another thread on that but no replies on it.

When it is working on long, open road rides or when i need to use my right hand to do something.

Back when the cars were wide enough to make it hard to reach across to roll up the far window, they came with cranks.  Now that you could just reach over and do it with the seat belt still on, they are all power equipped.  I kinda miss those old sleds with the front bench seats that would actually sit three across.

Use it all the time when I want to maintain a constant speed, for whatever reason. Or if I just want to rest that arm for a few miles. The great thing about throttle by wire is you don't have to worry about tension on the grip like you did with the cable cruise control, so you can "rest" your hand, even when it's covering the throttle grip.  I ride with two fingers covering the front brake lever 90% of the time, so disengaging is never a problem.

On the open road if I'm the lead bike or just riding solo I use it all the time. My system is to accelerate until my gps says I'm over the speed limit and set the cruise control. That way I can keep my eyes on the ebook I'm reading.  ;)

Every time I ride.
We live in the country. Closest store is 25 miles one way. But it takes less to get there and back than in the city. Not traffic, no red lights, only 1 stop sign.
As soon as I pull out of the driveway and get to cruising speed the cruise control goes on and set.
No worry about the speed limit our police doesn't mess with the touring bikes as long as we are withing 20 mph or less within the speed limit.

Does anyone find their right thumb getting numb? I use the cruise when that happens, even in the HOG rides, I try and use my thumb for the speeding up and down to stay in my correct "spot" in the 1 second/2 second distancing. Additionally, as a related question, when do y'all get into 6th? I try not to overuse it at lower "speed limit" 65 speeds, try to wait til the tach is around 3...should I be waiting longer?

I leave it turned off when not using it.  That said, I use it pretty frequently.  In Colorado, speed limits are high - it's nice to be able to set the speed and just relax on those long stretches.

Goes without saying, it's turned off in the twisties...

And on wet roads.  Don't want a back wheel spinning uncontrollably trying to maintain speed when it suddenly hydroplanes or hits a slick spot.  Amazed when on the highway in snowy/icy weather how often you hear the driven wheels on someone's car suddenly spin up because they weren't smart enough to turn off the cruise control.

One of few exceptions, I guess.  Almost never use it.  I avoid the super slabs and usually on secondary highways there is just too much going on.

the last trip of many I remember...  Rode from Central IL to FL and back around Thanksgiving.  Never turned it on.

Every chance I get!  I need to, this is my first TBW bike And it's a CVO (110 ci).  My fine motor skills with regard to smoothness leave much to be desired so cruise definitely smooths things out.

This is the first bike I have had with real cruise control and not a throttle lock.  So I am surprised to say I use it more than I thought I would.  If not I would be getting tickets my bike seems to cruise nice at 80 mph.  So that's not good.  It just don't seem like I am going that fast.  So I use it when I get to speed and set it and forget it.

I just had to have a cruise control but now that I have it, i rarely use it.  Only use it on longer trips now.  Keep it off most of the time

I actually use it quite a bit. A lot on the highway, and when I'm riding in group rides I will fiddle with it a lot... sort of as a little game to see how closely I can match the speed of the bike in front of me, to keep from getting bored when we're out on a highway with nothing much to do but follow.

'Use the cruise quite a bit, especially when travelling.
It allows me to change positions / pressure points and ride without hands for 100 miles or so as I have done several times out west.

I use mine all the time, on motorways when leading a ride out it helps set a regular pace and in any speed controlled areas it is very useful to stop going over the limit also it gives your hands a rest on long trips, one of the best extras on the bike.

I used mine for the first time yesterday. I didn't much like it when I was the middle person in a group of 3, too much toggling up and down to match the speed of the bike in front and keep an eye on the bike behind. I think I'll like it when it's just me on the highway. It was nice to relax my right hand.

Its not a good thing to use cruise in a group or even a pair, like you said to much adjusting to everybody's riding style.  But you will love it when you are riding alone on a highway.  Just be careful not to fall asleep!!!!  Ha Ha
