Spoiler Pinstriping Photos
« on: May 02, 2004, 06:41:22 PM »

If you read my thread on the Comfort Stitch Seat in the Pictures section, you saw the posts talking about the tour-pak spoiler covering up the last bit of the flames.  To solve this, I had a local painter transfer the design from the lid onto the spoiler and re-clearcoat it.  Below are the results:

Nice touch, I put the spoiler on a king tour pack, installed the mini lugauge rack, so I put the spoiler further to the back of the lid, It bearly touches the pinstripe flames. ......

Nice touch, either you or somebody on this web site suggested this.  Will have it done if I ever get a tour pak, ordered it Feb 2 and haven't got it yet but the spoiler ordered 4 weeks ago is here.

103 thanks for the photos.  The spoiler and saddle bag spoilers are something that I've been considering.  I'd like to see a photo of our bike with both.

I'm assuming that the tour pak has a quick relase in the wiring, similar to the saddle bag spoilers?

Dave you're doing so much riding......you wouldn't have time to put the spoiler on, if you did have it.  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Not sure I'll be the first to have both, but I intend to do the saddlebag spoilers, too.

I put a lid light on my tour pack with the spoiler also. All I did was to use the douche connector for the lights and the grey power plug for the lid light with a bullet connector for ground. It disconnects in seconds. I used black zip ties to hold the wires to the detachable tour pack mount to keep things organized.....looks pretty good.

Bill, you drive a hard bargain! [smiley=laugh.gif]  I'm still using antique 35mm camera, so patience, my friend, the film is at the 1 hr. shop currently.  Since I have stepped up and purchased a scanner over the weekend, photos of spoiler wire routing will follow here shortly. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

So every time I want to take the tour pak off, I'd have to remove the wire all the way up to near the battery?  Has to be some way of tieing in a quick disconnect.

Tell me.....as your wire goes through your tour pak or saddle bags it is held in place by the little plastic cable ties.  How are they secured?  Do they have an adhesive sticky on them?

My tour pak has an Ultra Classic liner that I could run it under......and the tour pak lid organizer inside the lid, that I could run it under.  But the saddle bags are more of a concern......I really pack them pretty tight.  Getting stuff out, on the long haul trips, and putting it back in.....can get almost abusive to the saddle bags.

JCZ,

On the saddlebags, and I am assuming on the Tourpak, they give you adhesive backed metal clips for inside the saddledbag...you can also see them in my pics in the "Must Have Mods Thread".

103t,

Thanks for the pics!  Looks like as the cable leaves the tourpak, I will be running it down the detachable bracket, securing with tie-wraps.  Once it gets to the front mounting point, I will have to decide whether to add a connector there or work under the assumption that I will be removing the seat.

Thanks!  Looks like I planned ahead and didn't know it.  I already have the quick disconnect knob installed.  I think I will just us the harness connector for now.

I remember seeing some photos of a Tour Pak Spolier kit which someone had the pin stripped flames added to the Spoiler Light Kit.  I have seached and could not locate it.  Does anyone know where it is located? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I think this thread pre-dated my participation here but I must have scanned it along with everything else (tried to scan EVERYTHING at first, was too interesting) back at the beginning.  Must have seen your pictures though 103 as they had to have been my inspiration this past weekend.  Here's what a striper that H82lose happened to be familiar with did to the red bike on Saturday:

And then, just to get a clue what an excellent salesman the guy was, when I came back from walking to another vendor to get a soda he asked how I liked this too.  I always though artwork on helmets was a little cheesey.  But I didn't tell him to take it off and it's kinda growin' on me....  [smiley=confused5.gif]

103tHunDer, Thanks so much for those pictures.  I knew that I had seem them!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Can you give me a ballpark figure on how much you were charged to have the pinstriping added to your spoiler.  So when I start to look for a stripper, at least I will have some idea on how much I will be paying.

I can't help with how much you should be paying for a stripper, lol.  You might want to check with JC on that one, lol.  But, I paid about $100 to have my spoiler hand-striped and then clear-coated over.  IMHO, having the stripes cleared over is the only way to get a factory appearance and be sure the pinstriping will last the life of the rest of the paint/stripes.

Twolane,

Coul you email me a shot of how the bag bars look? I am considering the purchase but they are not in stock, so that means paying up front.
Also, are your bars the new style?

Those stripes on the spoiler & brain bucket look great.  Thanks for divulging your costs so the rest of us don't get hammered when we negotiating with pin-stripers.  Been too long since we hired a stripper, how much they run nowadays. LOL!

Twolanerider, thanks for that info about the stripper.  It will help me when I start to find a stripper.  I saw the posted pictures of your bike and it looks great!!!  I can't wait to get everything put on my bike so that I can have it looking as good as yours.  I noticed your windscreen appears to have a red tint to it.  Does it?  It also looks like a 12 inch screen.  Is it?  If I am right, please tell me where I can get one of those puppies!! Porthole, just a suggestion.  If you're familiar with E-bay look for the rear bars there.  I got a set for $115 delivered.  If you priced them allready you know that I saved some $$.
I'm sure you could do the same.  Just a suggestion.

Too Bad these pics have been deleted, but are the spoilers available from the MoCo in 2004 Orange? I saw Orange Pearl in the catalog but I'm not sure if that is the same color.[smiley=nixweiss.gif] BTW, I realize that I should KNOW the EXACT color of my bike. I'm so ashamed. [smiley=dunce2.gif]

103 and I did much the same thing on the stripes. He just did it better.  If I remember right he got his cleared over the striping job.  Mine aren't.  Mine are just a pinstriper's work and a couple of good coats of wax.

The quick disconnect for the tour pak is easy if you want to tackle it.

Those stripes look really good! I especially like the work done on the top of the red one! SWEET. How can I get the Screamin Eagle Electra Glide medallion for the top of the tour pack for my 04 OrnagePearl/Black one? I'm about to order the chopped tour pack and was hoping someone on this board had done it already!  [smiley=cool2.gif]

It's got a part number of it's own.  But it's a VIN controlled part.  Unless you've got an 05 bike they're not supposed to sell it to you.  Ask your parts man. Maybe he'll fudge the rules for you  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
