Chrome Front Fork Air Baffle
« on: June 16, 2007, 08:41:15 PM »

I have one of these installed on my '06 SE Ultra but really don't see much difference with or without it.  Is anyone else using one of these?  Opinions?

Was talking with Scoothair over the weekend.  Apparently this thing helps with high speed wobble...........at least on a SERG.  My wobble kicks in about 118 mph..........then I gotta back off.  Had one on the 02 Ultra, and could peg the speedo without wobble.  My SEUC has plenty of power left, but the wobble won't let me go any further.............lest I be on the other side of the grass and daisies.

WHY what?  Why the wobble?  Beats the heck out of me.  Why 118 mph?  Because my bike will do it.  :2vrolijk_21:  Never knew it would do it until I got on I-70 in Kansas.  Every now and then ya gotta play!   :2vrolijk_21:

When?

How?

Now that I have read this thread, I must make another purchase.  Have one on the RK, it works great - had not considered one for the Seultra until now.  I will be broke soon and if you see me on the side of the road begging for chrome, have pity.  :coolblue:

It is worth doing 1862.  Knocks a surprising bit of turbulence (and associated shake) off the inside of the fairing.

Glad I was born after that, 2lanehistoricalknowitallguy.   When I hit 100 the fairing shake is very noticable.  Less at 80, but figure this will help.  So its not just chrome, its comfort.

And that is the main reason I'm getting one for the SEUC.  Loved it on the 02 Ultra.  Really helped smooth out the high speed wobble.

So far almost everything added on the Ultra has more to do with safety/comfort than bling.  I chromed out the RK, like it a lot, but this one doesn't need that much chrome - yet.

Reading about the fairing turbulence reduction here was very helpful. Great site with great info.

Its 22.95, list.

Maybe this will not be the chrome part that sends the Iski family to the poorhouse after all.

$18.36 after 20% discount! ::) But you're probably better off picking it up if shipping is more than no discount plus sales tax. ;) Hoist! 8)

I'll just pick it up at my dealer on Saturday.

Another one of the MoCo marketing decisions that is strange - standard on pre-2000 bikes for a while, then they take it off and sell it as an option. Even on the CVO touring bikes, where the unitiated figure they have EVERYTHING and need no adds.  Sometimes I am surprised these bikes have handlebars that are stock, considering.

Yessir!  But we're learning in the process.........which is exactly what all the chatter is about.  My first purchase on the 02 was all about the bling.......until I discovered it actually helped the handling. :2vrolijk_21:
