First, welcome to the site!!!  When you have an opportunity, you should introduce yourself in the New Member topic.

If I had a 110 motor, I'd get the extended warranty.  I have it on my 06 with a 103...on the Ultra, there are so many do dads, one failure and the warranty will pay for itself.  Shop around for it though, as some dealers in the country will "deal" on the extended warranty prices.  Try Chicago, Charlies in WV...

Your absolutely right Terry. I called Chicago HD and if memory serves me right they gave a 15% discount. I told my dealer and they beat it by $25.  :2vrolijk_21:

Sorry to hear you are a member of our growing club. The leaker club I mean. But welcome to CVO site. You may want to look at Steve's post on a possible head gasket leak fix. http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=17044.0  It is the direction I am looking at this time. I do not believe the Moco will deliver the answer, in a timely fashion anyway.

Get her fixed, ride and enjoy.

Once more in Paris, France @ 5000 miles  :confused5:.

They decide to change both cylinders & rings.the rear cylinder was separating from the sleeve.
Lucky parts are in stock in France, I'll have the bike back next week !
Does the warranty restart from now ?

7800 Miles on my 08 SEUC and I just noticed oil on the Rear Cylinder Fins. I am glad I have a 7 yr warranty because between now and 2015 we hope to come up with a cure. What is the latest proper procedure into getting the motor repaired correctly? I have heard of all the Band Aid Fixes from Mojo but is there ANYTHING New Out There???? :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :nixweiss:

Sorry you had to become a member of the club, but you're in good company.  ;D

The state of the art repair is a new gasket that is being tested. I wold have your service manager contact HD to get some of the test gaskets. First reports were promising, but the jury is still out.

I was at the dealer last sat and a tech just came back from school at harley. He said the tech's asked about the headgasket problem and they said new gasket would be shown and offered at dealer meeting this week.My friend from st louis said they shipped one for his fix.  RIDE SAFE JDO

JDO, Is there a P/N for that gasket? Can you get that P/N from your friend?

Chief, just a quick observation on your quote from DESERTBEAR54.  In his post he said 7800 miles and in your quote it says 7900 miles.

Did you change this or did this happen in the quoting process?

Again, just an observation, and inquiring minds want to know. ;D ;D ;D

Dan,

I just quoted his post and it appears he edited it after I had replied. He probably just went back to fix the mileage in his original post.  ;D

DBear

Sorry for your problems. I hope it is just the gasket. Mine was the cylinder liner moved which caused the head gasket to give up the ghost. Make sure they check for this also. Best of luck.

By the way, I'll be selling a pair of Harley cylinders ( 1 new / 1 with less the 3800 miles ) with pistons soon. ;)

Just curious.   Is everyone using synthetic oil or is this happening with both syn and regular oil?  (not that this has anything to do with the leaking problem)
