We got back today to make the last 125 miles in the rain.
Other than the rain home the weather was great!
We had a great time with Dave and Helen and Craig and Martha.
Don't ever underestimate Dave's pumkin.
We were playing and he stood it up on the back tire. (just as we passed a bunch of cops on the side of the road)
We meet a bunch of great people and we can't wait for M/V and CHL!

No offense taken Chip! Get that govener off of that Spyder and not much will take that at a 172mph! That Rotax motor is incredible. The Spyder, for what it is, is simply, pretty darn incredible!

Martha and I at last night's dinner. Expressions pretty much sum up the time we had. We relish the friends that we have made through this great site and truly enjoy the friends we keep making. It was great to finally meet Jorge, Hubbard and Harry. We enjoyed meeting and riding with Gary and his lovely wife Patti as well. Dave (Davey), it was great meeting you as well and had a lot of fun at dinner last night with jokes of Happy Days and all! Missing are the pictures we failed to capture on some of the great rides we had through the Ocala National Forest, etc. Thanks Dave for leading some great rides, even if you did have to pull a wheel stand to prove the Pumpkin! It was sad to return home today, but we do look so forward to spending more time with all of you.

With the onboard dynamic traction control system, it is pretty much impossible to dump the Spyder. It is extremely responsive to control input, even almost twitchy fast, but incredible handling with awesome acceleration. Can't wait to get one in the twisties. If you can get the 60" wide front end through the corner, the rear end can follow just about any line. The thing even has an actual Reverse gear allowing some pretty slick maneuvers (O.K. so some practice is involved).

Great pics, so glad some of you have gotten to meet and greet and some even to ride together. Fantastic. Some day, these Spyder's will make a huge impact on our society. With so many of our wounded solders returning from war, and wishing for the way to move on with their lives, I suspect this is going to be a win win answer for some of our solders.

Well, you do get a bit of help from some locals, Daytona Bike Week is a good start, but when you look at the Valentines Day ride, some BBQ's I recall, some bike show events etc., the members on your coast seem to find time to gather in larger numbers than those of us out here.

It could be we are just more secretive I imagine, but that appears not to be the case in the winter months for sure.

I guess we'll simply have to watch and see as things warm up out here. We have had some good times out here as well.

Just a short note on Daytona GTG. It was a pleasure to meet up again with the regulars and the newbies, Davy, BigR55, Sawyerghost. Harleyteam & his wife, his buddy Harley & Lucy, Miker& his wife, Iski, the list goes on, did I mis anyone thats a newbie.

I tell you what, Craig and the lovely Martha do have a happiness inside that glows around them and beams from those smiles. Great pics really show that. And Helen, so happy to hear that you braved the overnight on your bike. You did very good. Maybe a trailer coming up for sale in the future.

With Daytona now over I have had a chance to talk with others that went for the second weekend.
General consensus is the last three days sucked.
We left on Tuesday and I have been told that Wedesday and Thursday was great but the rest of the week and weekend was either rainy or the wind was blowing hard!

We had a great time and look forward to seeing everyone at CHL and or M/V.

It was great meeting everybody, looking forward to meeting others in the future.

Yes, it rained on us all the way on Friday. When we got to destination daytona it was dead. Very windy on Saturday. I've learned to give myself an extra day for weather.

Just got off the phone with my bro Animal who lives in Ormand Beach. He tells me attendance was way down, prices were way up and he was disappointed. FYI, me and Animal did our first Daytona Bike Week in 1984, so the man speaks from experience.

Rides around Sturgis are MUCH better. Daytona is too flat for the best riding if you twisties & hills. Tomoka State Park Rd. & A-1A back (the Loop) & a few river roads are very scenic.

Dereck - that beach view in your pic looks EXACTLY like the place we stayed a year or so ago.

Actually, Sturgis the town is boring (to me). We stayed in Deadwood.

Not much on joining the lemming type rides to here or there for some damn reason - Devil's Tower, panty's free Wednesday, etc.

I am with you on both points...We have stayed at the Super 8 in Deadwood for about 15 years... I wouldn't say Sturgis boring - it just isn't worth the hassle of the traffic and is full of wannabee's in brand new everything... We might get into Sturgis once each year just to cruise the vendors...

And we go out of our way to avoid the lemming rides...even after 15 years we can always find a ride or route we have never taken before...we have been going futher into Wyoming or further south each year looking for open roads and new sites...

We are planning to go on to Glacier the next time we go. Bear Tooth, Chief Joseph Hwy, and rides west are what we are more interested in.

Black Hills area may have a bad view road, but so far we have not found it.
