Rinehart's 4" exhaust
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:28:24 PM »

I know there has been some discussions on these mufflers.

I received an email from Rinehart, summary is as follows:

1) The 4” slip-ons are  part number 500-0102. As of today, they are on their website.
2) Note that they do have chrome end caps for the 4” slipons. If you want chrome end caps when ordering the slip-ons, it's no extra charge and the part number is the same except you add a “C” to the end of the part number.

I'm still "thinking" about them! ;)

Hope that helps!

Did you see how much Rinehart or the manufacturer are asking for two slip on muffler's? Are they f-ing nuts?

Saw on HD forums where people have been getting the 4 inch Rineharts for a little over $500.

Here is link that should take you to video of the pipes on standard 2009 RG.

I'm waiting for quote for these from Fuel Moto.

I bought a pair for my wife's trike. The screaming eagle pipes cost alot more and were horrible. Paid $549.00 with free freight on ebay. Still cheaper than the screaming eagle. They sounded good when i put them on. They sound better after a few miles on them.

Hello,

I have a 2009 CVO Road Glide.

I was looking at the Rinehart 4" slip-ons on the Rinehart web page.  They state:

"Do not adjust stock ECU settings with Rinehart slip-ons on 2009-2011 H-D Touring models with stock head pipes."

Does this mean that I can just put them on and go?  No race tuner, power comander, remapping, required?  Sorry if this is a stupid question.  I have left stock pipes on all my previous Harleys and been satisfied but my CVO sounds more like a BMW than a Harley!

Thanks,
Pete

Harley1958, think this thru before you buy the Rineharts. If there is no need for any other mods such as a PC V, does that mean the Rineharts are no different than the stock CVO mufflers? Or, is Rinehart implying that the existing ECM can self adjust to the changed mufflers? I am skeptical of either scenario and have not seen anything about the HD ECM being able to self adjust to new increased flow mufflers. If that were the case, why would Steve Cole at Fullsac bothered to produce a new map for his increased flow baffles that fit inside the stock HD CVO muffler shells?

From what I know about it I would say that the catalytic converter in the stock pipe creates a certain amount of back pressure, so the addition of just a muffler is not going to have as pronounced effect and probably the ECM can adjust to the necessary changes.

I am pretty sure that Steve at fullsac provides maps when the cat has been removed from the headpipe or the headpipe has been replaced with his X pipe along with the changing of the baffles.

Certainly the changing of the mufflers will alter the tune a bit, but as you add a high flow air cleaner and a free flowing non cat pipe, then you have to start thinking about a device for a more extensive remapping of the ECM

Dennis, you're right. My comments earlier assumed a cat free header and freer breathing AC. Can't imagine the amount of additional heat generated by the cat. I replaced the headpipe with a cat free HD header before I ever broke the bike in. Read too many heat related stories on this site to take a chance. Total stealth look and yes I did have to remap the ECM, which was quite simple. Have not done V-tune yet seems to run fine as is.

HDCTSS, the ECM was remapped using the TTS Mastertune product I bought from Steve Cole at Fullsac Performance. The product includes Fullsac's base map for their replacement cores that fit inside the existing muffler shells. Fullsac e-mails the base map and you use the Mastertune software loaded onto your laptop or desktop computer taken to your garage to hook up too your bike's connector to the ECM. The base map was also dyno tuned for use of a hi flow air cleaner, such as the one on the 2009 CVO Road Glide with the 110 engine. I am not that great with computers, but the software and the instruction manuals are pretty much all you need to do it yourself and then to further refine the base map using the software's V-Tune function. Installing the base map took me about 30 minutes as I want very slowly to assure I saved the original ECM map that the bike came with before I installed the dyno tuned Fullsac map. It was really quite easy. Just had to read over the instructions to make sure I understood what I was doing. Also, Fullsac is available by phone to provide support, if you have trouble with the ECM remap. BTW, I printed out all the TTS Mastertune manuals from the TTS website and found that very helpful. Good luck.

Those of you whom are considering or "on the fence" about the 4" Rineharts should definitely pull the trigger on these puppies! I just added them to my 2011 FLHXSE2 and man are they sweet! I have never heard a pipe sound better than these! They have a deep, DEEEP, bass-like throatiness that I can only compare to a race car. I had Rinehart True Duals on my 08 Road King and loved them, but they pale in comparison to the sound of these 4". I combined them with the FULLSAC X-PIPE (and SERT) and I'm completely blown away by the increase in power and performance. There are deals out there as these posts have shown, but they are on back order in alot of places. I have yet to see anyone else running these too, so everyone is amazed that I'm putting over 125 ft lbs of torque to the rear, as well as the wonderful sound from Rineharts. Pull the trigger and be amazed, trust me, I was!

I'm considering these as I want a bit more growl than my fullsac 2.25" baffles....does anyone know if the Rineharts would be any louder/deeper/meaner?

There are some sound clips over on hdforums, but I was hoping someone might have heard some in person.

I just put a set of 4" Rineharts on my 2009 CVO Road Glide.  They sound awesome!  One question though for you guys who have done the same.  Did you install the heat shields from your stock mufflers over your Rineharts?  Just thinking that the heat shields might be there to protect the extended bags.
