Rinehart's 4" exhaust
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:28:24 PM »

I know there has been some discussions on these mufflers.

I received an email from Rinehart, summary is as follows:

1) The 4” slip-ons are  part number 500-0102. As of today, they are on their website.
2) Note that they do have chrome end caps for the 4” slipons. If you want chrome end caps when ordering the slip-ons, it's no extra charge and the part number is the same except you add a “C” to the end of the part number.

I'm still "thinking" about them! ;)

Hope that helps!

Saw on HD forums where people have been getting the 4 inch Rineharts for a little over $500.

Here is link that should take you to video of the pipes on standard 2009 RG.

I'm waiting for quote for these from Fuel Moto.

I bought a pair for my wife's trike. The screaming eagle pipes cost alot more and were horrible. Paid $549.00 with free freight on ebay. Still cheaper than the screaming eagle. They sounded good when i put them on. They sound better after a few miles on them.

Hello,

I have a 2009 CVO Road Glide.

I was looking at the Rinehart 4" slip-ons on the Rinehart web page.  They state:

"Do not adjust stock ECU settings with Rinehart slip-ons on 2009-2011 H-D Touring models with stock head pipes."

Does this mean that I can just put them on and go?  No race tuner, power comander, remapping, required?  Sorry if this is a stupid question.  I have left stock pipes on all my previous Harleys and been satisfied but my CVO sounds more like a BMW than a Harley!

Thanks,
Pete

Harley1958, think this thru before you buy the Rineharts. If there is no need for any other mods such as a PC V, does that mean the Rineharts are no different than the stock CVO mufflers? Or, is Rinehart implying that the existing ECM can self adjust to the changed mufflers? I am skeptical of either scenario and have not seen anything about the HD ECM being able to self adjust to new increased flow mufflers. If that were the case, why would Steve Cole at Fullsac bothered to produce a new map for his increased flow baffles that fit inside the stock HD CVO muffler shells?

I wonder what Gerald Rinehart has to say about that?

From what I know about it I would say that the catalytic converter in the stock pipe creates a certain amount of back pressure, so the addition of just a muffler is not going to have as pronounced effect and probably the ECM can adjust to the necessary changes.

I am pretty sure that Steve at fullsac provides maps when the cat has been removed from the headpipe or the headpipe has been replaced with his X pipe along with the changing of the baffles.

Certainly the changing of the mufflers will alter the tune a bit, but as you add a high flow air cleaner and a free flowing non cat pipe, then you have to start thinking about a device for a more extensive remapping of the ECM

Dennis, you're right. My comments earlier assumed a cat free header and freer breathing AC. Can't imagine the amount of additional heat generated by the cat. I replaced the headpipe with a cat free HD header before I ever broke the bike in. Read too many heat related stories on this site to take a chance. Total stealth look and yes I did have to remap the ECM, which was quite simple. Have not done V-tune yet seems to run fine as is.

gg, how did you remap your ecm?  i have replaced the cat with a non cat head pipe and just put hi output slipons on the bike, but have not remapped anything yet.
