110 Dealer wants to replace the compensator
« on: September 18, 2013, 06:10:56 PM »

Took my Bike in for an oil change 13,000.00 miles. The mechanic said the compensator was making a noise. They want me to bring it back so they can put in a newer model compensator. Is there an new compensator has anyone heard anything about this?

Harley released the most recent revision to the compensator about a month ago.  Read this thread for some information:

Harley has released several "new" versions of the compensator.  Each as failure prone as the one before.  The latest "new" one does look much different though.  So maybe it won't suck.

THanks for the info. I should have looked before I posted. So should I let them glue in the plastic piece or buy a new cover?

You are lucky to be near a dealership with professional maintenance technicians on board.  My dealership would have never listened for any strange noises or sounds and if I had pointed any out, they would have said that they didn't hear anything that wasn't normal.  I wish I lived near a decent dealership.

Gluing things into the drivetrain, that's a great fix :huepfenlol2:
