I totally agree Jerry......I've been in situations where I was really nervous, but I carry a length of tubing (for siphoning) just in case.  I think the 5 gallon tank is large enough w/o compromising the looks too much.  Maybe figure how to utilize some of the frame tubing for extra fluid(s) would be a better design.  ;) har!  spyder

That's interesting.  Wonder what the actual volume will end up being then?  An absolute six gallon is only about a half gallon larger than what we've actually had.  But if six is actually six and a half as the five gallon tanks have been actually five and a half that's a significant increase.

Look at us, actually (almost) praising Harley Davidson for measuring progress a half gallon at a time  :drink: .

They'll claim that it a 20% increase in capacity and all we do is complain.

AJ, more is not necessarily always better.  Being what it is Harley will of course claim a fuel volume increase as a consumer and safety consideration.  And in fact in small ways it is.  So cudos as they are earned.  But I'd much rather see them put their time and effort toward consistently good paint, chrome that doesn't peel, engines that aren't a danger to themselves, seats that are comfortable rather than just looking good, ABS across the model range, truly modern rider management electronics and a host of other things.  In other words, I wish they'd catch up to their competition.  Not even lead them.  Just catch up.  If they actually did that I'd praise them.

So if the whole line gets this new-stretched tank, that should completely change the appearance of the 2008's. This should make for some very nice looking bikes. It's time for some sheetmetal changes- not just paint and wheels.

Now what's wrong with that? I own an '02. Besides, they're taking the Deuce out of the line up so they'll need something to replace it with right?

I didn't mean it an a bad way. I've always been kind of fond of the Duece.
Thats one of the conflicts with the California EPA post and other information for 2008. Unless I'm wrong the Duece was listed with the 1584's. What's the gallon capacity of the Duece?

Maybe they need room for the radiator expansion tank?? A fuel cap and a radiator cap on the same tank.

Those big flat Boss Hoss tanks with no dash may not be much for style.  But they do have one thing for them.  A passenger can swing around in front of you, lay back on that tank and... well... ummmmm.....; never mind.
