Yeah, you need to. There are probably quite a few people in line ahead of you though!
Probably.  I'm in Maryland though, so it's not like I can carry here.  It's only an issue when I'm out of state, and I don't have any trips planned in the near future.

What do you mean when you say it's unwieldy as a range gun? Is it difficult to see down the sights?
Sights are actually decent , even though the sight radius is so short.  The issue for me is the grip size and texture.  With the standard magazine fitted, my ring finger is half off the pistol.  On top of that, the pattern in the grip tears into my hand.  I've solved that problem with a Talon grip.  I will say that the little frame does an excellent job with the recoil, though with the above mentioned issues it's more of a problem.  With the extended magazine and the Talon grip, it's a great-handling little pistol, though you lose concealability then.  And, of course, you should practice with it the way you plan on carrying it.

So if I was planning on burning up 300 rounds of .45 ACP at the range, this isn't the pistol I'd grab out of the safe.

Gotcha, Train. Thanks for the feedback. I still want to get one of these little beauties. I would shoot enough rounds through it to get proficient at it, but not anywhere near 300 in a day! I don't think I'd want to shoot 300 .45 ACP rounds in a day with ANY gun other a 1911 or a P220!

Exactly.  After the "getting to know you" range session, I run a magazine or two through just to stay proficient.

I used to shoot IPDA but have zero time for it any longer.  I have a G27 that has 20,000+ rounds through it. You get used to the snap of recoil but when you carry you need to have something that you can shoot accurately . I don't care what name you like,.. if you cannot shoot it and hit what you are aiming at the name does not matter.

Keep in mind that if the gun does have to be used the chances of it being returned are very low. Second G27 with night sites for me. Basic, easy to carry, and it works well.

Not a carry gun but its a fun gun.. POF NBC , 14.5 inch barrel ( legal at 16 with welded pin on brake) in 308. This is one that I really like. I run a EO most times but have bus sites that are very good on return to zero.

AHHH... Gotcha, Duane. Thanks.

I have a friend who has an XDS .45, and he expects it back soon from the recall. He has offered to let me shoot it, and I intend to take him up on the offer. I have held it, and it's a sweet piece!

The news on the XD-S is good and gooder and gooderer  ( :nixweiss:)

SA started shipping updated items this past Friday, and has 3 shifts working to do the work.
SA stated in some of the literature they would be including a 7 round mag with extension for our troubles

1st range report with the update/upgrade is very favorable.

So I went to Dicks grand opening near me and saw this there.

http://www.gamousa.com/product.aspx?product=Bone%20Collector%20Bull%20Whisper%20.177%20Cal.&productID=434

They had it for sale for $250, then I took a ride to Walmart and they had same gun $188. So I bought it. Yea I know it's a toy(kinda), but single stroke 1300fps this thing is badass and fun. Very accurate, cheap to shoot, and can blast all day in the backyard without dealing with the cops. First 10 rounds are pretty loud, then it quieted down. For chits & giggles I separated the action from the stock and sprayed stock bedliner black. Looks pretty good. Air rifles have come a long way since the crossman pumpmaster I used to play with. Even the ammo, they have very light armor piercing, polymer tips for expansion, and alloy ones for real high velocity.

Ken

I go to the range frequently, and usually put 200~300 rounds of 230 grain .45 ACP down range though the various 1911's I own.  Not bad in a well balanced 1911 at all.  Usually shoot another 50 rounds in my FN5.7 and 100 in my 1911-22lr, then 50 rounds in my 40S&W XD.

The XD is the one that has the sharpest recoil, bites even more than my 3" barrel 1911.  The 5" 1911s are the most fun to shoot.

I have two of these pistols and I'm interested in selling this one.  What is it worth?   :nixweiss:
Kimber Ultra CDP ll 45
Bought May 2012
Has only had 50 rounds put through it.  Paid $1,387.00 included the taxes.

Totally agree.  I can shoot my 5" Springfield Loaded or my 4.25" R1 all day long without issue.  The XDs gets a mag or two for proficiency and that's it.

I find that I just don't enjoy shooting .40 much anymore.   I've got a SigPro 2022 that's a great shooter, but the round itself just does nothing for me.

My wife loves 9mm, so I'll probably always have a safe full of various platforms, but for me, I'm plenty happy with good 'ol .45ACP.

How's that 5.7 handle?

Sent from my iPad, probably while I'm pooping.

Two?  You must be lucky!

I really love my Kimber SIS "full size with rail". You could sell it to a fellow Kimber owner for like $50.  ;D :huepfenlol2:
