First motor in my '07 crapped out at 22k and new motor put in.  Have 85k on motorcycle now so that is 63k on the replacement motor - and still going strong.

At just over 41K miles my 09 CVO Roadglide had a lifter failure that took out the cams.  This happened less than five miles after I traded it on the 12 CVO.

Wifes 09 Heritage has just over 84K miles on it, no issues, a 96 inch motor.

50,000 miles on my 08 SERK.  Motor only opened up for the recall.  I put in the SE compensator, high performance clutch and a new clutch hub @ 41K but thats it.  Still runs well no leaks and does not burn more than 1/2 qt per 5000 miles.  I have done allot of mods but never touched the motor.  Typical stage 1.  Want to sell and move up to a SERG but the value of our bikes with high mileage makes for a confusion situation while on a fixed income.  I'll have over 60K by the end of summer & see no reason why it won't do more.  I have had some dealer issues but overall it has never let me down.

Are you saying that only bad mechanics work for dealerships? I have two very good mechanics at the dealership that I use in Denver. And their service manager is tops in my book. I am an auto tech by trade with over 50 years of working in the auto industry, and have found there are just as many incompetent mechanics in the independent shops. But that is JMO. I guess all bad doctors only work at the hospital? All good doctors have a private practice?

No, I'm not saying that. Of course there are competent, experienced mechanics working at H-D dealerships. It's just that I have two dealership options within a 50 mile radius of where I live and I've had poor experiences from both of their service departments which destroys my confidence in having them perform any maintenance on my bike.  The next closest dealership to me would be 100 miles or longer. (St. Louis, MO or Nashville, TN)  I know there are dealer mechanics out there that are top notch and are probably shining stars in their field but unfortunately, I've not had the good fortune to have found them.  I hate to think that I have to go hundreds of miles to find a good mechanic when there are two local dealer within 50 miles.  You've probably heard the old saying that it takes many "atta boys" to make up for one "ah chit".  As an aircraft mechanic myself,  we try to police our own and don't retain substandard mechanics that are sloppy and screw up often.  I know that there are several H-D mechanics as members on this site and would happy to live close enough to where they are to do my major maintenance on my ride.  How many opportunities should a bike owner give a dealer's service department the benefit of a doubt when each time they have gone there they have gotten a shoddy, substandard maintenance?  This was in no way to categorize all dealership mechanics as being bad. I just believe that the good mechanics ought to help get rid of the bad eggs out there.

Traded in my 07 flstcuse with 49k. Had new jugs, pistons, valve job, and cranks replaced at 29 k due to tuner who blew her up and she still ran good after rebuild.

Didn't you also have the PIP product fix, new heads, etc. to fix the leaking head gasket issue for all 2007, 2008 SE 110s?

I'm wondering about my "new" dealership that I plan to use for maintenance. Kinda leaves me with an odd feeling when they don't like the modern engines and prefer the older shovels and Evo's. Might not be indicative of their abilities but...????

Duh, I just reread this. Wasn't meaning to bash on the Shovel and Evo if it was taken that way.

Based on the skimpy warranty Harley offers, I'd guess that average life is not much over two years.

My 2011 made it 18201 miles.

Traded it in, so will never no how long the fix will last.
And don't much care.

I suspose if they get the proper care and feeding and looks like that is fresh lifters every so often. Assuming the original motor is a good print to begin with and changes are not made to alter the reliability

I agree.

Wow, my 110 just turned 16000 with no issues. Has always run good. Runs great now that Bill Chambers Racing tuned my power commander. Looks like I should hurry up and get some miles on before my extended warrentee runs out.

Going in for the 55K service this week on the '10 SEUC with clock showing 55,6xx miles.  Never any motor issues, but have replaced alternator and everything in the primary when it started making ticking noises - dealer didn't want to take a chance that the defective items caused other damage and replaced everything from the compensator back.  I have a lifetime service policy and total of 5 year warranty, so I let them do it all.  I'm hoping it flys apart in another 2 years.  Only have changed intake (heavy breather) and pipes (monster ovals).  Thinking of putting the stock pipes back on, maybe with Fulsac cores.

OUCH! My shirt is soaked from the tears I got reading about all these 110 issues. Yikes! I have seen plenty of 88s, 95s, and 103s with over 150,000 miles without a major issue. I have been looking at the CVOs but I can't invest in a bike with that many problems...

Yea, my old wideglide has over 90,000 on a built motor with no problems.
I sold it with 70 and my friend put the other 20 on it with no engine problems at all.
Map sensor and the like, but no internal problems.
WTF.
I hope this one last's a bit longer.
Had gear drive cams in mine, so I thought maybe they scored the pump, the tech said all was good, had crank run out checked at 15,000 and was in spec.
Guess you never know.
