It will be a little chilly here in the evenings but we expect some good riding the next few days.

I'm screwed for the Maggie Valley ride again this year, I'll be 400 miles south of the Arctic Circle again in September and the dates over lap with the ride.

Another reason to get to Copperhead in March I believe.

Today's ride!  We left Copperhead Lodge at around 9:30 AM this morning and the temp was around 28 degrees.  We took route 129 to Rt 180 and over to Brasstown Bald (highest point in Georgia).  From there we headed on over to 75 and then on down to Dahlonega and met up with T-Bone and Ilene and had lunch at Smith House.  Made our way back up Rt 60 all the way to 76 and then back to Copperhead.  Pictures to follow!

Here's a shot of Bob and Ilene, Chip and Nancy and Martha and mysef up on the Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway today!  We had a great ride today.  We rode down and did Wolf Pen Gap twice, went over and rode the Richard B. Russell Hwy, shot up to Brasstown (Clay's Corner) and picked up a couple of Possums, rode up and had a late lunch along the Nantahala River before heading back down Wayah Road and then across 64 and 76 back to the Lodge.  What a great day!  The sun was shining and the temps had to be near 70 most of the day. (O.K. it was a bit cooler at altitude, but great nonetheless!)

Here's the gang in front of Smith House in Dahlonega yesterday (I'm the one behind the camera).  What a great place this is!  Best fried chicken I think I've ever had.  Neat place, all of the food is good and they do encourage you to eat too much!  Best part is, they like big groups!

The folks at Copperhead Lodge are great!  They had no idea what they were thinking when they let Chip have the keys to the Mule!  We all went out for a little joy ride with Chip at the wheel.

I have a lot more pictures once we get back home and I get a chance to download from the Point and shoot!  I just can't say enough good things about the folks at Copperhead Lodge.  We just finished another incredible dinner served up with some of the finest Southern hospitality!  Great place and they are certainly blessed with some of the finest motorcyle riding roads in America.  We have had another great time with great friends, awesome riding, fortunate weather, a great home base with Copperhead Lodge and can't wait to do it again.  Too bad we are heading home in the morning!

Good recon there buddy. We looked at that last time. Ken was looking at the wings in his basket and the seafood buffet and really wanted to ditch the wings and go for the shrimp.

Ilene and I had a great time this past weekend.  We feel so fortunate to have such good friends and to have some of the best roads in the country so close to us.  We can't wait to see everyone again in March and do it all over again.  The folks that run the Lodge are the best and really seem to enjoy our bunch being there.

Fairly priced.  A gem in the North Georgia mountains.  You can certainly spend more and get less, but I think you would be hard pressed to spend less and get more anywhere!  Good people, great location, comfortable lodge atmosphere and did I mention good people?  Absolutely great place for a small to medium sized group to get together for good times.  See you there in March?
