Could someone give me an idea of the difficulty of doing this yourself? I understand the antenna relocation issue and may or may not have to do that, but was wondering if switching to the 4 point dock is something better left to the dealer, or something the average Joe could do themself?

YOU CAN DO IT. I assume you're installing a TP with this. Mount the antenna on it, there is more than enough slack in the line behind the left- side cover

I just did it.  It is as easy as unscrewing two screws and putting three in on each side.

Well, I guess I did not understand the antenna relocation issue as well as I thought. Got the 4 point dock kit today, took the bags off, and noticed the antenna is mounted to the 2 point bracket. I am not doing the TP yet, as all I really wanted out of this was put the 4 point dock on and add the Stealth Luggage rack and keep my stock backrest.

So now am I stuck with actually stuffing the antenna in the fairing? That is a bigger project than I want to deal with at this point. If I am not putting a TP on and don't want to move the antenna to the fairing, are there any other options to mounting the antenna near where it should be with the 4 point dock?

I saw a pic here     http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=39851.msg618114#msg618114

where it seems the antenna is still there with the Stealth luggage rack, so it seems like it should mount fine, yet the parts manuals says it needs the 4 point dock..

I have to get this issue resolved soon, cause the luggage rack is on the way.

thanks for any help or advice.

If it were me, I'd take the antenna bracket off. get under the left side cover and free up the extra antenna cable, disconnect the barrel connector, dry fit the 4 point bracket and see where the bracket might fit in the works, then mount it all, re-hook up the barrel connector and take the slack back out and ziptie under the side cover. that antenna bracket can be bent to accomodate.
or try one of these.

LarryB,

Not sure I understand what you are saying.

When you say "take the antenna bracket off", I presume you mean the single piece of metal that composes the 2 point dock module. The somehow mount that same piece after the 4 point dock is installed. (beats the hell out of me why MoCo didn't have the 4 point dock standard on CVO on in the first place)

Or are you simply saying go buy a bracket?

Sorry for not quite visualizing what you are saying.

the bracket you have on there now really isn't connected to the docking bracket, it's added to it. so when you take the stock setup apart, the antenna mount will separate, and then you can re mount as needed. this is where mods and custom come together. when you apply a TP you run the antenna cable up into the tp and hook up the antenna.
I for one, am glad they did like they did, as I ride in the solo setup

OK..I must not have noticed it comes apart...looked like one piece to me when I looked at it...

Will try again this evening when (if) I have time and get back to you.

Thanks much for your help

I have the 4 point with stealth rack and the antenna stayed in the same location.  If you are not going to put a very wide luggage bag on the rack, it will clear the antenna.
