Maybe a stupid question....
« on: May 06, 2007, 04:37:15 PM »

When it comes to loading a base map on my TMax/AT, there isn't one that comes close to my configuration - which one should I use?  Stock with RYO A/C, V&H Dresser Dual headers, SE Mufflers (65115-98B).

Thanks d00d. I realised no replies there and had to hope for PMs - I didn't know where else to post since for that topic it says "request maps here"!!  :confused5:

Hi Jacques,

Yes, I looked at 357 and 377, but I don't think they are very close!  Headers are wrong (too big), mufflers are wrong (too unrestricted) and air cleaner is wrong (too big)!

Good morning Jim,

After discussions with other members for mine :
Dresser duals and Oval slip-ons V&H, RYO A/C : The advises were these maps.

Yet, I've not order my TM/AT but I was curious to look the map.
Also, you'll read other informations in this thread : http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=11999.0;all

TM/AT install

Well, in the absence of any other suggestions except Jacques', I went with map 377.

Went very easily after that, uploaded the base map, and let it do the IAC, and that was that.

Would someone who's done this be kind enough to answer a couple of simple questions?

1) After the IAC has been autocorrected, the instructions tell you to manually align the blocks before and after the autocorrected ones, to make them a straight line to the first, and after the last, autocorrected blocks.  Mine seemed fine already, not needing touched (although that screen, and hence the dots, is very small so it's hard to tell!) - is that normal, and acceptable?

2) I assume that's it, and (having checked that it's all set to closed loop) I just ride and let it tune?  If map 377 was far enough off though, I assume that it will take a few miles to get things right, because of the 5% (session) learning, but the 20% (max) learning will get it there in the end?

Cheers,   :drink:

Hi Jim - did you weld up the o2 sensors?
Let me know how you get on.  I wanted to put the TMAT on mine but the dealership will only fit VHFueler so it may be something I 'll do after the warranty

Hi Smiler.

No, I have the 02 sensors working as they should (essential for the TMAT) - Zippers supply replacement wideband ones.

Good evening Smiler,

If you put the TM/AT, you need not your dealer.
But, if your dealer puts VH fueler, he assume the warranty.
Not easy to decide !!!!   :-\

Good evening, Dave !

Yes ! it's the most simple if you forget not to download the right map in the TM/AT.
I say that it's the most simple because in Europe we've not experimented dealers same in States for tuning and it's not easy to found a Dyno ( each time it's more money)

Your TM/AT will learn during the first miles and adjust the best compromise between TQ and HP.

Other advantage : if you change the cams or other, you download the Map from Zipper's website and you run again with the new best compromise. The Maps are regularly updated and are free.

Last point : with the wide band sensors and TM/AT, the adjustements are avalaible for all conditions of use.

Personnally, I think that it's the best product on the market for the best compromise.

It'll be different if you wish a very high TQ or HP. In this case, you need a tuner and dyno.

Best regards
Jacques

No worries Dave. As probably the first european to install a TMAT I can assure you it's really, really easy!

Yes, I'm beginning to be a bit disappointed in the way so many of our US bros just don't bother to respond to our posts. Maybe they think we are just "furriners"
 :(

Lots of them must have done the Tmax install - we know they have - but none of them has bothered to reply.  I posted several times asking Bubba about his horn - no response. I PM'd HD-Dude asking about oil - no reply.  :( :( :( :( :(

I was starting to think my posts were invisible to everyone except me.

Thanks goodness for all the good guys on here - (plenty of you, you know who you are guys!) - who DO respond to us when they can, but as for the rest...... well maybe they just don't like us. :'( :'( :'(
