ClutchWIZ Easy Pull Clutch with SE Clutch Spring after 400 miles
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:49:01 PM »

I have been looking for reduced hydraulic clutch lever pull effort on my 2010 SEUC..  I was pointed to the ClutchWIZ by Ken (northGeorgiahawg) about this product.  It can be seen at  http://clutchwiz.com   ..

This bike came with the 364 # pink dot spring.  I installed the ClutchWIZ with the SE spring that is 386 #'s..  Even with the heavier spring, my clutch lever pull is probably 25-30% less than it was.  I am happy with the clutch lever pull I now have when sitting at a stop or in stop-go traffic and still have a great friction zone.

You will have to read the tech info on the ClutchWIZ site on why the heavier spring is needed when replacing the stock clutch spring retainer with the ClutchWIZ.

A benefit I was not expecting is that my bike pulls harder/stronger when accelerating.  My clutch spring could have been weak?  It had 23,000 miles on it and approximately 10,000 of them was pulling a trailer with my daughter as passenger.

Bike is stock except decatted stock headpipe, stock mufflers/baffles, open air filter, and Fullsac's TTS map.  I do not ride hard.  The maker of the ClutchWIZ stated to use a 480 # spring on a 110 and that's what many of you would need.  Maybe I am lucky to get a long with the ClutchWIZ and the 386 SE spring.

I am happy with this combination after 400 miles and hope to continue to be happy with this setup.  May not work for everyone.   May be useful to someone wanting a reduced clutch lever pull and not go with the AIM or Harley version of the AIM..

Great news Boatman.  :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, sooner or later the spring will give up the ghost and go weak. Some will think their clutch needs replacing when all that is needed is a simple spring change. That may have been why yours seems to pull stronger now, it's not slipping. The clutch pack has pretty much been the same part number since 1998 in stock Harley Big Twins. It's a good clutch pack as long as you don't over TQ it with mods.

Stupid question...did you need to do anything with the hydraulic setup or is it just unbolt the retaining ring and bolt on the Clutchwhiz? No need to re-bleed the system or tamper with the hydraulic setup??

Would you have the part # for the 386 SE spring?

If you don't change the clutch spring to a SE, you remove the trap door, remove 5 bolts, and simply install the ClutchWIZ..  Have to remove the outer primary to put on a heavier spring.

Go to the link to their website and read/see the picturtes.

You do nothing to the hydraulics.

Hey Boatman... glad you're happy with the ClutchWiz! One less person to have to worry about looking over my shoulder about...  :nervous:

I have the AIM AM-007-480 480 lb spring and the ClutchWiz in the Honey Badger. Today I went over to Wiz' house to install the Energy One extra plate clutch kit (and the Hayden BT07 primary chain tensioner as well, BTW). My stock clutch had been slipping even with the 480 lb spring, and I don't think it had anything to do with the ClutchWiz... I think it was that the stock clutch simply can't handle the MASSIVE and MANLY amount of raw torque the Honey Badger is now putting out. Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

The extra clutch plate kit fixed the clutch for GOOD... No slipping at ALL now!!! And I ROMPED it on the way home, just to make SURE!   :bananarock: :2vrolijk_21: :drink:

You felt any signs of slippage using this spring and the Clutch Wiz in combination Bob?

None for  me Don.  I actually bought and then returned a 480 spring if I would have needed it.  The SE spring is slightly thicker and the fingers are slightly taller than the pink dot spring I removed.  The 480 spring was pretty stout by looking without taking out of it's package.

Checking up on your clutch change Boatman... you still doing OK?  I know Ken is having issues keeping the front wheel on the ground and his pull is 9 pounds.

Just got my Clutch Wiz from Mr. Wizard yesterday (thanks for the fast shipping) and also got my 480# spring from AIMs.  My Truck Lights arrived Monday.  I'm waiting on my color matched spoiler lights for my saddlebags to get here and then she is off to my mechanic where he is also gonna install the Champion Reverse.  Merry Christmas to me.  :P
