Will CVO Springer sell better than CVO Fatboy?
« on: July 16, 2006, 01:59:43 AM »

Interesting choice since there are not that many Springers versus Fatboys out there.    But I guess they want to rest the CVO Fatboy since they had it 05 and 06.

I am kind of bummed that they are doing the 200 rear on the regular Fatboys.   Kind of lessens the specialness of my SE 06 Fatboy, but I truly love the paint on the SE Fatboys.  Not too impressed with the colors coming out.   6 speed tranny can always be added on but is it really necessary.  Though I will test ride a 6 speed later just to see.

Being that it is the only FX Springer (21" Front) it WILL sell. My problem is I don't want to part with my 1998 FXSTS! And I would rather see more Springers anyway, "You know it's a Harley" if it has a Springer. That said.......I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!

For basically $25k it may be the best bang for the buck CVO to date.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

If you took a stock 2006 model approx $18k and tried to add-on:

wheels/rotors/pulley = $3000
6 Speed = $2500
Build up motor = $5000
paint work = $3000
misc bling = $2500
wide tire kit = $1500

I don't think so. I've seen more Fatboys on the road then I've seen Springer’s. That style front-end will appeal to some, but I don't think it will have as much appeal as the Fatboy does.

that is what I am thinking.  The Springer has limited following.  Will be interesting to see for sure.

The Springer does have its on look and following BUT down here in the south if you ride one you need a sandblaster to get the bugs out of the front end ....

I would say very limited following.  And getting smaller.  Most folks nowadays look at a springer and say "what's up with that?"  They have no idea of history or prior technology.  To them it just looks strange.

IMO, the CVO Springer is sort of an odd bird.  That may make it, among all CVO models, more unique and desireable--to a very few people.

I have had a couple of springers and enjoyed the look.  The ride was a bit more of a challenge if you ride hard, but still a great bike.

I would much rather have seen it in a Heritage configuration of some sort and think it would have more appeal that way.

Come to think of it, they have not had a CVO Heritage yet?   But then again, they are kinda of heavy in the bagger line.

This is true. I rode friends of mines Deuce and it was so much different feeling in the front-end w/that slimmer tire. To me it seems like the bike is easier to lean in corners when both tires are the same width, with his bike felt like I had to use more force. [smiley=confused5.gif]

Haven't ridden a deuce enough to comment but I can definitely get the wide glide around a corner easier than my SEUC.  I think it is a comfort zone you may have experienced, can't imagine a deuce taking more effort than and FLH.

I did have that same impression though between my DWG and my DWG2, the steering geometry on the G2 was a bit different and deinitely easier to make 90's at low speed in a narrower radius.  Maybe the deuce was similar to my '01 DWG CVO bike.

At the time of this comparison I owned a Fatboy. It seemed to feel like the bigger front tire just rolled into turns where on the Deuce you had to almost steer it. As you stated it might have been a "comfort zone" thing from being used to seeing a lot more tire in front of me, and thinking that the skinny tire wasn't going to hold me. [smiley=nervous.gif]

Don't know if the CVO FX Springer will sell faster than the Fatboy, but I do know that 3 are sold here already; the GM, Sales Manager (my son) and me.  After discontinuing the FX Springer last year the prices on the clean and/or tricked up used ones have taken off.  A couple of the used one's have made me a very happy guy.  Thinking is, about 3-5 years down the road the CVO model may be worth some serious bucks to the Springer cult.
