2013 SERK Reverse

Hello,

I'm looking for a reverse kit for my FLHRSE5.
Dealer says it will be difficult to find because of the (new ?) hydraulic clutch, matter of clearance...
I googled around but neither Champion, Mamba nore Baker clearly state about model compatibility.

Have you heard about any successfull install ?

Do you confirm having seen that one on a 2013 SERK ?
2013 have width adjustments that does not allow much free space, and prevent the use of kits that claim to be compatible.
That's why I'm so carefull not to become member of 'reselling new' ads...  8)

T Sorry but have NOT seen one installed and I do not endorse the product.  There were several different versions on this company's website. The website I gave you was for the one that is claimed to fit your bike.

lovemycvogirl (Judy) put this on her 2012 SESG with great results.  However, I do understand your 2013 SERK may have a different set of issues as the clutch is a "slipper" and the hydraulic fill/vent is in a different place on your RK.  However, I'm sure the manufacturer has made the adjustments to accommodate the changes on the 2013/newer bikes.  I'm sure Judy would be more than happy to tell you about her experience with the reverse she had installed.

You could also contact Baker. I know last year they were in development of something for the stock 2-1 exhaust. Last I knew, anything after 08 model needed true duals or something similar to clear solenoid. They may have worked something out by now or be close to. It is a great system. Push a button(safety lockout solenoid) then downshift when you're in first and it brings you into reverse creeper gear. To get out upshift back to first.

CHAMPION is a great reverse set up. I have one on my 08 CVO Ultra with hydraulic clutch. I have logged over 38,000 miles on it using it often. Never had a problem.  Just need to remember to take it out of reverse prior to shifting to 1st gear or damage can be done.

Thought there was some security preventing 1st gear and reverse to mix up the box  :oops:

Baker does, not sure about the others. Baker also costs a fair amount more... :(

Just talked to guy who installed mine. Baker does have a redesigned solenoid available now for all bikes 09 and up. $1895 retail

Said to give James a call over at Baker 517-339-3835

*2009-Later Touring Model Exhaust Installation Notes: The Stock exhaust 2 into 1 into 2 design requires the use of the Rear Facing Solenoid Side Covers. See the ‘F6R Side Cover Styles’ images further down the page for solenoid locations.

I used the Champion reverse for many years (until I put in the Baker 7 speed) with a hydraulic clutch--no problems.  Easy to use and, when using reverse, it's a big enough "event" that I never had any trouble remembering to take it out of R.

the baker unit for the cruise drive has the reverse on the main shift drum - so you push a button to hold a solenoid open and then push the shifter down one click PAST first - and its in reverse, to go forward you simply pull up to first and the solenoid clicks in to prevent accidental shifts to reverse when you are trying to make sure its in first at a stop light.

all the other systems use electronics to try and prevent it going into forward and reverse at the same time

EXCEPT the factory harley 3 speed and reverse transmissions available special order till sometime in the late 70's maybe? dont know the exact year. but sidecar bikes could get factory reverse. and again its was down past first like the new baker units are.

if i ever get a pile of cash - thats the mod id put on my sidecar bike - a baker reverse.....

I'm guessing at most 1385 euros plus labor maybe 438 for 6 hours. Total 1823 Euro should be about right.

They shouldn't charge more than that for the unit itself. It retails here for $1895, but can be had for closer to $1600 to an end user, I'm betting they give their installers even a better deal than that. So if they get the unit from Baker themselves they're still making money on it because they aren't paying $1895, but the bill of sale with labor will indicate full retail.

Absolut Cycles does not sell anymore Reverse kits and they have no suggestions about who to call.

So I asked Baker : I want to find someone with knowledge because there may be a clearance problem with the O² sensors...
