Me too!  Thanks Mark.

They said the subscription will start with the May issue that comes out in April however, I also back ordered the Mar. and April issues.  Feb. issue (the first issue) is out of stock and out of print so I guess that means we're SOL. :nixweiss:

F.Y.I.    Hot Bikes magazine for March has a Bagger issue that looks interesting also.
I guess the magazine companies are cashing in on the idea that baggers are Harley's biggest selling line of bikes now that the V-twin crowd is getting older. :huepfenlol2:

For those of you that have actually seen a copy; is it any good?  Who are the contributors and how well does it seem to be put together?

I'd pretty much given up on all the motorcycle rags the last couple of years.  They'd gotten to be written with such mediocrity and edited so poorly that the writing and presentation no longer made up for the fact that they were always shills for the adverstisers.  So this thing actually looks to be worth spending money on?

Brian-

The publisher has talked to Alligator Bob numerous times about advertising. Bob is using my bike for a press release. If all goes as planned, it should be in the June issue. I have a few more things up my sleeve to do before it goes in for the photo shoot.

I'll keep you posted :2vrolijk_21:

Hey there Don-

They're based out of Spearfish South Dakota. One thing that's nice about it is there's not an overabundance of nonsense advertising. I now have the first two issues. It's full of real world baggers. No trailer queen show bikes. Nothing outrageous at all.

You most likely could have done the article on the Hawg wired amp/speaker install.....Step by step photo's real good job.

They've also done a detailed Legends air ride install with more detail than I've seen in other mags.

They also publish American Cycle mag. for the barebones crowd.

The articles seem to be very straight forward and "real world" informative.

Give'm a shot, I think you'll be glad you did :2vrolijk_21:

You could easily be a field rep, that's for sure! Send in articles and photo's of the CVO gatherings :huepfenjump3:

I can see it already....."On the road with Twolane"

Now that sounds good! DAMN STRAIGHT!!! :cherry: :bananarock: :orange: :pepper: :2vrolijk_21:

Alligator Bob has been talking to the publisher.....I think I'll give Bob a call to get the ball rolling  ;D

You look at what you've done with your Pumpkin, what Big Daddy's done with his PurpleSERK, what I've done with Elvis, Chip's TMC Frontier, Twolane's Cherry Bomb, Sid ( Hotrodstitcher) bike, Otis, with his fine SERG, d00d's Pumpkin, Neal and Gilligan with the ElectraSERKs and on and on and on just on this site and you can see why someone would start a magazine devoted to baggers.Smart money would be to build custom baggers for the folks like us that want looks, performance and comfort. Kinda funny too that the OCC idiots ride CVO baggers and not their own choppers. You'd think they'd look in the mirror for their next big market segment, but as we've seen all to painfully, those guys are more lucky than smart.

I'm sure many have heard of Brian Klock of Klock Werks Custom Cycles, but for those that haven't he does some really nice custom work on baggers.

Yep, he sure does, and I believe it was his gf/fiance that set the record. The bike was built for one of the Biker Build-Offs I believe. I spent the night in Mitchell S.D. on my way to Sturgis in '04 and at the time wasn't aware of him or I would have tried to stop by his shop.

According to what I've been able to find out, the record everybody keeps mentioning was set with an 88" engine. Otis's engine is ?????? and Hubbard's is a 124 (sorry if I'm off here, but that's what I recall) anyway, they would be in a different class than the so called " world's fastest bagger "

Actually he fessed up one late night in Maggie Valley. He said he completely disassembled the engine, took it to a cryrogenics place and had em lower the temp down to minus 240 to rearrange the molecules of the metal. Then he took it to an engine guru buddy of his and had it balanced and blueprinted, did some headwork and cam stuff and that's it.

Hey there Big B-

I'm not sure about the c.i. of the Bagger LSR. I thought the Klock Kerks bike was a bigger c.i. than 88. I have the article here, but it says nothing about the motor. Whatever size it is, it's all S&S. The 143.686 mph run, even though a record, sure don't seem that impressive for a big mod c.i. twin. So maybe the Klock Werks bike is only 88c.i.  :confused5: Now that the word is out for a LSR bagger I'm sure this record will be blown out of the water.

It's been nothing for me to run up to 130mph (on gps) with my bike two up with plenty of rpm left. And it's only a 113'' w/24/37 primary gearing. The reason I let off there is because of the crazy headshake from that damn batwing fairing!!

With gearing changes, a roadglide chasis & big mod c.i. twin. I don't see any reason why the record couldn't be more like 190-200mph.... Just my thoughts.

Mark,
I agree completely with everything you're saying. My point is all of these " World Records " are class specific. Bobby Moreland holds a couple of world records at 221 mph. We all know that's not the fastest any motorcycle has gone, but it's the class he did his runs in. I don't claim to know eveything about all of this, but there are classes for no fairing, classes for fairings, classes for streamliners and in each of those classes are sub classes depending on cc's. The dude in the move " The World's Fastest Indian " still holds a couple of records in the under 1000cc liner class. Wink, the big guy from the short lived TV SHow BIG (remember the bike out front of Wheels Through Time ) holds some records in the unfaired classes. Bottom line you could build a big inch Road Glide and own a record. Just not the record that this dude's wife currently holds UNLESS you go after that record specifically.

just my $0.02

I  snagged a March/April 2007 issue and they did do an install review on the GP bearing support and had a (fair) testing of various slip-on exhausts as well. If some one is interested in those particular items I can always scan in and post them.

Hot Bike Baggers.  I like that one just a little bit more than the American Bagger one.  But it's great to see two magazines devoted to baggers...kind of makes me feel "special" now.  ::)

I got both.  American Bagger seems to be a little larger magazine and has more tech. and "how to" articles and less "feature" photo spreads than Hot Bike's Bagger.

I subscribed to American Bagger about a month ago, when this thread first started.  I just called the phone number in Hot Bike Bagger and they just told me that a subscription isn't available, that you have to "pick it up at the store". :nixweiss: :confused5:

The latest issue of American Iron Magazine just came in today. They MUST read this board. Most of the articles are taken right off these pages. Not saying that is bad. Imitation is flatering.

I notice a lot of articles/magazines like that. There will be an in depth conversation on something than it ends up in the next issue of one of the mags. On that note there are a few of the magazine guys on the various boards. Some of the bigger name builders troll the boards also. :orange:

Like I said I don't mind it at all. I wish they would do a little more 'real' world features and tips. I saw one article on the Rhineharts True Duals that was all pictures on how to install the pipes. A pictorial of the instruction sheet.

I got my first copy on Saturday. So now I want to know how to submit some pics of Elvis and LD for the reader's rides section. I've scoured the magazine looking for an e-mail address for it. All I can find is one's for ads and subs etc. Anyone know how to submit photos ?

I'm sure many have heard of Brian Klock of Klock Werks Custom Cycles, but for those that haven't he does some really nice custom work on baggers.

Mentioned to the LiL'one a couple years back that the BAGGERS were the next rave. With all those too hard to ride Choppers out there just able to barhop. Just too hard to ride any real distance. Too hard on our OLD tailbone! Saw it coming, then this past weekend our local Custom Builder MGS Customs (Mike did the tank for the OCC 911 bike) is building an Street Glide for this years Vegas Bikefest Artistry in Iron Contest. Here is a sample of his past work.

In E mail discussion with them I was asked to get a package together including dyno sheet so once it's broke in we need to test it. You need to  have 7 to 8 hundred miles on it before we test!

OK. To clear up some confusion (at least on my part)...

I was down at the dealer today and bought a copy of Baggers. Baggers 'The Custom Touring Magazine' May/ June 2007 issue by Hot Bikes. In the editorial section a letter to the editor asks about subscriptions and why there were no subscription cards. The Editor, Billy Bartles states "John, we get a ton of mail just like yours (minus the cool ride), and we can only say for now: stay patient, and keep buying us on the newsstand so our publisher will make Baggers into a real (subscribable) magizine.-BB"

So there you have it from the horses mouth or as HUBBARD would say: There endth the lesson.

I've gotta get some more work done on my canopy, but I'm hoping to take Elvis down to Logan Barrio and get some shots to send in to Bagger Mag of E with some really cool artwork that's painted on the Coronado Bridge supports as a backdrop. E kind of has a lowrider look, so I think those will be cool

Got my first issue of Bagger Magazine.  Long on ads that I have seen elsewhere and short on content.  Hoping it gets better over the length of my subscription; otherwise I would not renew.

Is the damned thing at least well written?  Most of them anymore are so poorly written, then so poorly edited on top of that; that they hardly qualify as anything more than spilled words by the same several shared authors that populate most of them.

I don't subscribe to any bike mags anymore.  They'd all gotten so mediocre (being generous there).  Started to subscribe to this magazing.  Then decided to wait and see if it survived and snag a bookstore issue or two first to gauge the quality of its writing.

Maybe I was thinking it would emphasize touring and feature destinations, and equipment to better enjoy that aspect of biking.   That would distance themselves from the other mags that feature an endless parade of chrome which as we all know "Don't get you home."

I'll reserve judgment until I have read a few more issues.

Spiderman,
I would love to see the photos of your Flhrsei2 in the Barrio framed by those murals.  I will be in town with mine come mid-June and might do  it as well.

I like the "American Bagger" magazine better than the Hot Bike "Bagger."  This month already had the "Bagger without Bags" layout...isn't that what we are trying to get away from?  Anything by HotBike will have the more upper end custom bikes that would never end up in my garage anyway.  Hot Bike was great for performance tips until I found all of you Knuckledraggers here on this site, now I can get all my answers without having to wait until the next issue!!!!!

Six issues into American Bagger, subscribed with the second issue, to date have only recieved ONE issue via mail. I have had to email them each month to get the other four issues I paid for. Piss poor publishing/distributor. Nothing like getting your magazine a month or so later, A$$ holes.

This months Hot Bike Baggers has a subscription card in it, finally.

As mentioned earlier it is still filled with ads. 40 pages out of 98. Definitely more Bagger oriented than the first issue though.

For those who are interested.

Disappointing articles! The '08 one only mentioned the SEUC3 & SERK. No mention of the TP  :confused5:. The Banana article said that they used both a "SERT & Power Commander" to control the EFI.

I gotta quote it..."The EFI is controlled bt a Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner and a Power Commander. This combination insures that the power and acceleration is smooth while keeping the engine running as efficiently as possible."

Nice pictures though.

I bought the first two issues, refuse to buy any more. I was really hoping for quality articles, ones that catered to "Bagger's", but they fail horribly...too much useless advertising. Just as news papers are going, so are the magazines, therefore I go to the net.

The days of the Magazines I believe may be dead. The net is here, websites are much more interactive and capable of archive and indepth pictorials and articles. That said, this site has more valuable info than any magazine I've read. For that matter the advertisers need to take heed, a good review about something on this site has spurred me to buy many a thing I never knew I needed, and thus far I've been completely satisfied :)

Just found out today reading my latest copy (Sept) of "Hot Rod's Bike Works" that they will no longer be producing this magazine. Since I had a subscription I gave them a call and found out that I now will be receiving Hot Bike Baggers. Glad I hadn't already subscribed to them and guess I'll find out whether I want to continue the subscription to it once I read a couple issues. :nixweiss:

Ordered subscription with reception of inaugural issue. Stil have yet to receive another issue. Guess now I'll quit expecting one! It would nice for a refund though. john
