Garmin Zumo 390 LM
« on: February 04, 2015, 05:53:02 PM »

Bought the new Zumo 390 LM for my SERG and installed using the Iron Aces Speed Shop GPS mount.  Photos taken from the riding position, good visibility and easily reached.  Power cable runs under the tank to the battery compartment and I'm using the aux power connection through the accessory switch.  Easy breezy and clean install.  Looking forward to trying it out this weekend!

It blocks the radio, I remember looking @ them when I put one on my SERG. The Chrome HD Mount puts it closer to you and wire can be ran thru bars and does not block the radio. Plus you don't have to drill holes to mount it.

there is a small piece of trim that goes on the top of the instrument bezel.  that is removed before you drill 2 small holes to mount the iron aces mount.  if you ever decide to remove the mount, you can reattach the trim piece and the 2 holes will be completely covered up.  blocking part of the radio face plate, well, who cares?  it isn't like it is telling you some very important information, like mph, or rpm....  i never listen to the radio itself, just my ipod, so i pretty much know what every song that plays is, and i can see over the top of my gps to read the clock display.  i see no downside here.  the only thing i did different with my gps is to use a swivel mount from crutchfield that would allow me to 'stand up' the gps more so i would be looking more straight on, as opposed to an angled view.

X2.  I listen to the radio, I don't watch it.  If I'm traveling I usually connect my helmet to my iPad via Bluetooth and listen to my iTunes library.  Considered a swivel mount, but while unit is mounted on an angle, it is actually pointing directly at me so not needed in my case.

Looks good Pete, have to laugh at the I listen too not watch my radio.  I do the same. I like the unit straight in front of you rather than on the handlebars like on my batwing.

Kind of looks like the old 550 except the look on the screen. Nice spot for install.
