Zippers is about an hour or so from the factory I think so it could be done on the same day.

Bob McElroy (717-852-****) is the person I was put in contact with as the overseer of tours.
He is the one that told me dealers only, didn't seem to impressed when I told him we were a predominantly a CVO group. I believe he also told me April 13the was the last day available for CVO tours.
The blurb below is from the HD website regarding tours.
Bottom line is that there are no Saturday tours until June.

Tour Schedule
Tours are free and last approximately one hour.

Tours begin at regular intervals between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that you arrive early in the day. Modified tours may be conducted due to manufacturing requirements. Tours are not offered on major holidays, or during production changes and year-end maintenance.

Tour schedule is subject to change. Please call 1-877-883-1450 (toll free) or 414-343-7850 prior to your visit for up-to-date tour information.

Tour Center
Tour center and gift shop hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Tour Center will be open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. beginning Saturday, June 4, through Saturday, August 20, with the exception of July 2. Factory tours will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Group Tours
Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more.[/

Also from the HD page is this:

At the Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center, you'll explore exhibits that detail the plant's history, guide you through the manufacturing and assembly processes and highlight the Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO).

BTW, the Softail tour is only available during the September Open House.

Bob McElroy

He's one of the bodies I coordinated with last year Porthole.  For him we were just another group going through.  Not negative or positive; just yet another group.  We'd gotten permission from somewhere and that's all that mattered.

A woman that was senior to him was slightly more amiable and seemed a bit more interested in our bona fides.  But these are all essentially short group management exercises for these people.  They do it over and over and over again.  One more or less just shouldn't be expected to be a big deal for them.

If someone above them wangles permission to get us in we'll be greeted just as happily as everyone else that comes through.  If there is no permission that's no skin off their behind either.  It's just another group of bodies to coordinate with and pass through.

Anyone tried reaching Jim Hoffman there ? He's the CVO Director, and maybe visitors bearing CVO pins and t-shirts along with a formal invite to Maggie Valley and Cripple Creek will grease it a bit ? What will it hurt to try ?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] I've had the gee-whiz tours at all the plants over the years, even way up to Tomahawk. Very restrictive in nature, and as Don says it basically whisk them in and whisk them out, PR thing not Customer appreciation IMHO.

Towards Baltimore. They are in Jessup  Md.just south of Baltimore on Rt1. Rt1 runs parrell to I95 on the east side of the interstate. It's the old road to Baltimore before the Highway was built many many years ago!
