Yesterday out riding, when I stopped to get something out of the right saddle bag on the 17. Found the new and improved bag fastener that screws in laying in the bottom of the bag. Could not get it to screw in and catch for the life of me.
Figured out the reason, the right side of the bike had the old style wire clips so nothing for the screw fasteners to screw into.
Had dealer fix it.
I see Harley Quality control is still lacking at the factory.
So the screw was never in? Not trying to be a dick here, but I would have thought that the dealer or you would have caught that while checking out the bags at the dealership or you while putting stuff into the bag? It was probably in the hole, but not threaded in.
I lost my left bag on my '09 SERG a few years ago. The 1/4-turn pins were bent and still inside the bag when I got it back from someone that picked it up. I rode home with my hands almost always on my saddle bags. I've now gone to the J nuts and bolts, but I still check them out every ride to make sure they're snug. At $1,725 for a new bag, I take precautions now just in case.
