FLHXSE3 Audio Problems
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:48:32 AM »

I know that there is a thread out there for issues on the '11's but I wanted to start a thread for us '12 owners. Has anyone experienced issues with their audio systems?

No problems with mine with a 1100 on the clock. I do wobble a little when a good jam comes on though! ;D

Only problem I have encountered, and have heard others talk about on the '12s is the IPOD losing synch with the head unit.  There is a thread on it.

The only problem i have been having is irritaiting my wife :furious3: and neigbours as i go out the garage and blast the tunes to the point>>> well you get the idea   :furious3: :furious3: :drummer:

All joking aside, been good so far. Although I am curious about the mid summer heat with the bag stuffed full of clothes and how well it will all breath in that small space.

I have the same issue with irritating people with the volume... especially the others in my riding group!

My wife is jealous because her rinky-dink stock system on the Tri Glide just sucks, and she can't hear HER radio when I'm beside her... so I'll probably be springing soon for the system upgrade from Yaffe that adds the Rockford Fosgate 4-channel amp and decent speakers for her...  :2vrolijk_21:

I will be taking my 2012 SESG to the stealer because the rear speakers sound terrible and the whole thing sounds terrible above 60mph.  I'm pretty sure the dealer will say it's normal.

The way everyone raves about the sound system here, I think there must be something wrong with mine.  Or am I expecting too much?

It should be fine above 60, I have cruised with earplugs up to 80-85 and can hear the system fine.  I have found that the back speakers distort much easier than the front ones.  I couldn't hear it, but my passenger could.

Make sure your bass isn't cranked up to high is another possibility.  The system is decent, but no where near an audiophile system.  There are several great threads out there on upgrades to the audio.  This is an upgrade that I will be doing probably next winter.

Not at all ... it's just that most people accept too little.
Compared to the stock H/K system ... or even the stock CVO Ultra system - the SESG2/3 system might sound pretty good (for the 1 month it may actually work).

Compared to what the bike CAN sound like?
Well ... let's just say that the transistor radio used on "Gilligan's Island" was probably once considered "great audio".
