I have always loved the look of the Indian Super Chief, and have seriously thought about buying one a couple of times. The thing that always stopped me was my deep concern about the viability of Indian as a company. Indian having shut down and restarted several times, it might be a long term issue finding parts if they go out of business yet again. There are not nearly as many aftermarket manufacturers for Indian as there are for Harley.
This new engine looks like very modern technology (for a pushrod engine) that should produce a lot of power, with very old school looks. The triple cam setup with a shared intake cam and parallel pushrods looks very efficient, with the pushrods straight on the cams. Never been much of a fan of single-hole cases where the engine oil is lubing the clutch and transmission as well, but the metrics have always done it that way. It's a simpler setup than having a separate primary, clutch, and transmission I suppose.
Will be interesting to see their 2014 lineup with this engine!
