At least as far as Dunlop is concerned.

I noticed the following in the Dunlop warranty info under the "what is not covered" section:

"Tires injected with dry/liquid balancers or sealants, or in which anything other than air has been used as the supporting medium."

I emailed Dunlop about the use of nitrogen and its affect on the warranty.  Here is their reply:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact Dunlop Motorcycle Tire Division.  Yes, the use of nitrogen will void the warranty. "

That's funny, since regular air is about 78% nitrogen.

Yep, that's what struck me as odd regarding their warranty statement.  Just reporting their response.

How will they even know if tire was filled with nitrogen...a green cap??? Who would replace a chrome cap for a green one...anyone here???

Appreciate the warning but I don't buy it. Dealer's, at least mine, is now Nitrogen when doing tire changes.

who would ever know? if you bring your bike into a dealer under warrantee,are they going to use a "nitrogen" tester?

No. But I don't really GAS one way or the other.

If nitrogen leaks out at a slower rate than other gases I should be in pretty good shape, you see I have added air to my tires several times in the last few months; so I am guessing only the other gases are leaking out ( o2, co2, etc..) which should mean I now have close to 98% hydrogen, and it was free!

Why?  Takes all the excitement out of those burnouts.

Personally, I prefer propane in my tires.  When the gas grill poops out in the middle of cooking a meal, I can roll the bike out to the back yard and hook the grill up to continue cooking.  I love dual purpose solutions.
