Day Four | Colby, KN – Pueblo, CO | 375 miles

Now we start having some fun!  Slow it down!  Take it in!  Enjoy!

It was great to be back in Colorful Colorado!  Gee, the sign has not changed and they welcomed me back.  Imagine that!

Wow!  The Welcoming Committee!  A free kiss too!

YIKES!  RUT ROH!

I better get on my Big Green Tractor and haul some hay down the road!

After haulin’ that hay I landed in Genoa, CO right off I-70!  Genoa is a small town with nuttin’ there but at one time it was home to the Wonder View Tower!

Many moons ago, this was a tourist destination however time has not been so kind to the one time booming location.

[Jock]

A hand-built observation tower, museum and souvenir shop with picked freaks and picturesque vistas once dawned this location.  Remember the two-headed calf?

[Jock]

Built in 1926, the Tower closed in 2013 with the death of its owner.  But I must tell ya, after traveling the property, I think he may still be there. 

[Jock]

Are there spirits still here viewing the six states?  Perhaps!? 

[Jock]

I know this!  It scared the chit out of me!  After a quick visit to the outhouse, it was time to dump on down the road.

What a loss to the roadside attraction community.

Next stop – Calhan, CO  Paint Mines

Relentless prairie winds, sandstone-capped spires and hoodos, colorful hues of clay and distant coyote calls beckon visitors to this serene landscape.

[Jock]

Brightly colored bands, caused by oxidized iron compounds, are found in varying amounts throughout the many different layers of clay.

The paint mines have evidence of human life as far back as 9,000 years ago.

Well at least this year as evidenced by this imagine.

After visiting the Paint Mines and all of those funky colors, it was time to get funky in a different way!

Oh Yeah!  Let’s Smoke!

Well if I cannot do it on the property, it ain’t happenin’!

In all seriousness, the shop was open and there was a line inside of it.  “The nineteen” ain’t gonna stop ‘em from gettin’ high!  No mask required.  Just $!
