I bet that the Marriott Riverfront is on River Street?  Planning on staying there Sunday and Monday before the OBX Rally...

/Bill

It is on it but you will not have to ride on River Street to get there...You will be fine...

Not sure if I will be in town on those dates but if I am we should hook up!  Keep me posted.

... It had Crab in the name and it was on 278 on the east side by the old island museum...

That would be the Crazy Crab. Some of the best hush puppies in the area!

Jock is correct, you can get to it via Bay St. If you do want to ride River St. (which is pretty cool), I would recommend entering it from the North end by the Talmadge Bridge. The slope is not as steep.

Let me, Jock & TN know when you're in town and we can meet up.

Hilton Head has always been snobby and will probably always be that way.

I have to disagree with you there. It sounds like y'all may be talking about the tourists that come and visit.

I'll be on island all day tomorrow. Riding of course!

Bill you better stop in Charleston on your way to Outer Banks or you might get arrested. Got plenty of room and covered bike parking!
Let me know.

Back door? He!! I can see it from the porch. I hear the firing range go hot in the morning. Well, that is when I roll over at 5 am. :huepfenlol2:

Thanks!  Looking to take Tuesday and Wednesday (4/21-22) to ride up the coast from Savannah to Kitty Hawk for the OBX rally.  We have never been in the area and thought it would be nice to hug the coast on the way up.  We probably cannot spend a night in Charleston and YOU may already be up at the BB&B!

As for me riding down River St. I have had to ride that beast of a bagger on some pretty harsh roads. The only thing that got me was the constant jarring of my back every 6 inches. The wife was behind me on her bike and the only complaint I got from her was that her kickstand was going between the bricks and for some reason she did not like that. I always follow my one rule:Keep your cool and the wheels turning to keep balance you will be fine. If you feel the bike getting psycho, and you keep your cool and the wheels turning, by the time your brain decides to make some kind of inappropriate compensation you will likely have gotten through the bad spot already.
Anyway, I got the patch, pin, and dealer dot so I won't have to go back again.

Random thought.....

HH - I've been there - it is a bit snobbish, but is a good place to see once. I was in a rental car, and saw maybe 5 bikes in the whole week that I was there. Would I go back - yes, but only for the golf, not for riding or touristing!
