Saddlebag stand?
« on: March 05, 2015, 10:48:13 AM »

In the past, I've always taken my saddlebags off to detail my bike. I just sit them on a towel or something in the garage.  Given the bottoms of the extended bags on my new bike are not flat, I wondered about buying or possibly building a stand for them.

Anyone see anything reasonably priced to stand the bags on, or a set of plans for a PVC stand that could be built?

Thx

I've had and used these - BagrRest since '05. I do remove everything from saddlebags before placing them on these stands and would recommend doing that on most stands.

I have the Bagrest rack, bought it off the detail guy @ Daytona one year during bikeweek. I do not unload the bags, just stick them on there. Had to take a pipe wrench and bend one arm on each side to make them fit my '15 but they are probably 10 years old and no rust etc.
Would buy another set if I needed one.

I feel famous! I'm still using my home made stand and it;s working great. I will be happy to make anyone stand for $300 plus shipping or you can go to Home Depot and spend $10.00  :P

Based upon HD's shipping of this type of product to overseas production I would not be surprised if it is made in China.  It seems to be HD's preferred country of manufacturing.

Just a quick pic of another option.  Skunk ryder and his son built one of these for both them and as a gift to me for Christmas.  Works great and designed to take apart if needed for storage.  I hang it on a hook in the garage so I used PVC cement to make it permanent.  It's PVC along with insulation where the bags rest.  Works like a charm.  PM me if anyone wants the measurements to build one yourself although you could probably figure it out by looking at the picture.

Would you mind showing a picture of your holder with the bags sitting on them? I'm having trouble visualizing how they sit. Thanks in advance!
