Just took the Bushtec for it's first real voyage....Maggie Valley! I didn't really "need" to take it but I wanted to guve it a good test. It performed flawlessly!

I bought a hanging scale to go with the trailer so I weighed each bag so I could shoot for my tongue weight. I was told prior to target 20-25% of the load.
I got to thinking about it wondering if I should add the weight of the trailer in that percentage. So I called Bush Tec as I am loading and they said 10% tongue weight is the "target", sometimes you hit it, sometimes you don't and you do INCLUDE the weight of the trailer (which is 125 #'s for the Road Star). So I figure 20-25% of the LOAD ONLY is near enough the same as 10% of everything. I had right at 100#'s loaded and about 30#'s tongue weight after loading the cooler  :drink: .

I used my Harley shock pump and adjusted the air pressure to just over 40 PSI (about 42-43) then removed the pump. As instructed by Bush Tec I first rolled the trailer back and forth but that didn't really seem to readjust the tires (you want them straight, no leaning to the inside or out at the top) for perfect towing. So I then picked up on the fender of each side lifting the tire completely off of the ground. Bingo. They readjusted and they were straight.

Love, love, love the cooler and the trailer. The ONLY time I can tell it is back there is on take off and braking (you need to allow for more stopping distance depending on your load....obviously). Other than that, couldn't tell it was back there until I looked in my mirror. No amount of bumps, pot holes, curves or uneven pavement moved the cargo!

If you are even slightly on the fence about getting a trailer, do not hesitate to go with the best...Bush Tec. Not saying others are not as good, just going by what I have researched and my own personal experience.

You can search Craigslist like I did via the link of all of http://www.onecraigs.com/ and find the triler you want. There are enough members on this site that if it is too far away for an assessment, someone can go look at it for you.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Once you get a trailer.......you'll never go without one. I took mine to Maggie and I was solo, why? Because I could :2vrolijk_21:

I should probably read up on the math you speak of because I never heard of it. I don't pull a Bushtec but I doubt the math is different. I only run 15 psi in my tires now but when I first got it I ran 32 and I was hopping all over the place, she runs like a champ with 15.

Glad you like your trailer I'm sure you'll use it more then you think.
