Opinions on installing Fullsac DX pipe and a Dyno tune
« on: January 03, 2016, 05:38:09 PM »

Overall I am happy with the performance of my bike. I have Vance and Hines High Outputs installed and like most, I did notice a low end hit, but do like that the bike doesn't seem to run out of air at higher RPM compared to the previous exhaust, so I deal with it. The looks and sound also help me cope a little.

Anyways, as a single guy with no kids, I'm looking to blow my tax money on some upgrades. I was looking at getting the Fullsac DX pipe and a Dyno tune using the PowerVision. I plan on doing nothing else as far as headwork, new cams, etc. So I guess my question is, will these two things actually be worth it as far as feeling a difference? I understand the Dyno tune alone is beneficial just for the sake of the bike running better. That at minimum will happen. I don't expect to be doing wheelies, but even if I got a little of the low end back and overall the bike runs better, I would invest in the DX pipes, too. If I follow through, I will be using Sheffer Performance in Evansville, IN. He has solid reputation and seems like a great guy.

I feel silly asking this, but there are a lot of knowledgeable folks here and I just want to make an educated decision before I spend my money. I have people telling me I'll hardly feel the difference if any, and others who swear by it. Some are telling me these "stage I" type of modifications are basically laying the ground work for the mods that will make the difference. Unfortunately I can't find anyone close by with the set-up I'm wanting to try.

Thank you for your patience with a total noob!

Thank you for the short and sweet answer :)

It seems like a lot of the guys on here who do the Fullsac/Flash tune/Dyno combo have been very happy with the results. I'm going to do a little more digging just to feel better about it, but likely gonna go in this direction. Thanks again!

If you still have the stock header on:  It's possible (probable?) that the loss of low-end with the HOs could be offset by a good tune, and you'll definitely need a good tune with the DX in the mix.  With the combo of DX and free-flowing HOs, you're going to have a lot more sound than now.

I'm not familiar with Sheffer, and I'm not putting him down, but you might ask on here for recommendations on a good dyno guy.  GMR and Doc can help with that.

Good luck with your upgrades.

Thanks for the response. GMR is actually one of the members who highly recommended Sheffer in a previous thread. I do currently have the stock headers.

I am running the fullsac, reinharts and TTS tuner.  I was happy with the map I got, but found a good tuner within 3 hours. So I had it tuned.  I now a firm believer in getting the bike dynoed.

Just a little update, Sheffer convinced me to ditch the High Outputs and go with Kuryakyn Crushers.

I put a DX stainless, TTS and Kurry Crushers on Lucille and had a dyno done by Doc over in Florida. I noticed a big difference in her behaviour, manners and much more pronounced Southern Drawl. Worked for me.

Cheers Tom

I'm really excited about the Crushers. I browsed around on here and some consider them one of, maybe even the best slip-ons you can buy. The High Outputs look and sound cool (not saying the Crushers won't.....) but I'd rather have my low end back.

That speaks well for Sheffer.

Daren Sheffer , Durwood is what we call him, knows his stuff. He's very honest and will work his tail off to get the job done right.
