Jacek was seeing indication of engagement via the idiot light.  So doubt the switch is his problem.  Think I remember soups describing his as speed wandering or somehow other indicative of a potential speed sensor rather than actually going off.  When he logs back on again hopefully we'll get a bit fuller description.
