There are reports of leaks already in the 08s as well.  Speaking purely from the anecdotal evidence here the latter part of the 07 production years seems to have carried with it less incidents of bottom end crank runout problems.  So perhaps the bad crankshafts have been addressed?  The top end issues seem to be continuing though.

I've had my SERK over a year and 5k miles. No motor problems of any kind. Runs great and has been a blast to ride. I put a SERT, RH RD and a K&N filter at 500 miles and found a real good tuner to dyno tune it.

don't be distressed.  I've got 6,000 trouble free miles on mine.  The most common problem I've heard and leaking head gaskets.  That's an easy find and you'll be able to find photos posted here.  It's not gonna strand you if you do find it.

Sfarson, was hoping you and I would both be lucky and not have issues. Rode to Galveston about a month ago for the Lonestar rally and when I got home rear cylinder was leaking. Dealer found a small weep on front cylinder also. Put it in the shop Friday so they could get started on it. I asked them to check rocker boxes and check crank runout while it's down. Bikes build date was Jan 07. At 10,500 miles this is the first time my bike has had any problems whatsoever. The only issue I had went away when I had the IDS installed. Like you I love the bike. It's a joy to own and ride. Best of luck to ya!

10,500 miles not problems Great Bike. My dealer has not had one 110 engine problem . I think they have sold about 12 CVO's to date.  Well worth the money. More fun than the Deuce. Harley just has to learn how to make a seat. Billy

About a year and 4000 on my '07.  So far just excessive/scary valve noise that the moco won't fix, but I'm not to the mileage where the head gasket goes.  Neighbor's 110 reached it on his last trip and slathered the back end with oil.  Also has an intermittent starting and misfire problem, maybe from oil in the cylinder.  In retrospect - Road King Custom, upgrade to a 103 engine, add the bits I like from the SERK.

I've had the bike for a little under 4 months. I love this scooter. 3673 miles on her when the rear head gasket started leaking. Dang it. Oh well, get er fixed and moving on. Looking to do head work and cam anyway. Fixing some of the lower end weakness too.

I wouldn't get overly concerned with the problems. Just fix em under warranty (extended) and enjoy the ride.

where do i start....?

1. scratched up bags from factory
2. snapped throttle cable
3. kinked cruise control cable
4. hydraulic nut vibrated loose and lost all fluid
5. base of rear cylinder started leaking

these are just my first 5,000 miles...

so far the bike is all looks. if you actually want to ride, get a gold wing. :soapbox:

Black Diamond 110,

I think mine has started a little leak also at about 2100 miles. Seems to be some burnt oil resting on the fin just below the rear exhaust. I told my service manager I would monitor it and bring it in if it truly is a leak as I suspect.

What remedy did your shop do and is it working out so far?

novazeus

Talked with my guys Monday. They recommend we do the motor build at the sametime we fix the leak. This way they can give me a credit off my bill for the warranty parts and labor. They are also going to store her for free all winter until I pick her up. These are some great guys.

If I can get a couple of days off, I'm getting over to them to get things started. Working out the last details on my upgrade package now. Since this head gasket problem persist, I'm replacing the heads and HD gaskets altogether.

I'll post the latest upgrade package for my 08 SERK on http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=17921.0
