May as well get the Chrome Oil Filler Spout P/N 62470-02 while you got that one off. :2vrolijk_21: Then you will not have to worry about that extra plug, and have chrome. ;D

I have the OD6, I now know the reason for the spacer.

Thanks,

Looks as if the "what" is getting sorted out.  A problem with coming on the back of someone else's project is that the "why" is often never known?  The oil spout does seem something of a mystery.  Have to wonder what's been there in the past that needed the extra fitting.

Feuling used to make a version of their oil tank vent that routed an extra line down there to vent to atmosphere.  That's the only thing I can think of.  Even they altered their vent kit later and started using a simpler version that just replaced the line with a new line that had a T in it.  Vent line came off the T.

One thing that can happen with the chrome line upgrade from the rubber line is excessive oil carryover/ misting/ puking. The reason is that the new chrome line is almost 50% less in volume. We have seen this issue more than once.  What we did was take the stock rubber line and cover it with S.S. braid and it looks great and you still the enough volume to allow the crank case pressure to get back to the oil bag.  Just a heads up if you run into that issue you will know why. If it is minor try running the oil leve down some it may help. There are many factors that can work for you or against. Hope you have no issues with it all. I agree the rubber line is not a good looking set up.

The line on the CVO's (SEEG's/CUSE's) is mostly chrome up until the part that would be hidden by the rear stock pipe. It's about a couple inches in length if that long. It stands out more when people change pipes especially when going to true duals, and probably the reason many have went to the all chrome. I wouldn't think the problem would be any worse from changing to an all chrome versus the 3/4 chrome one. :nixweiss:

Are you sure that is the case on the 02 model year? I was aware that the new CVO's are like that but did not think the early versions where like that

Can't speak for the '02 model year. The bike in question is an '04 SEEG, and I know that the SEEG's/CUSE's have the chrome/partial rubber lines.

Everybody,

Thanks for all your helpful advise etc. however, I now know why their is the 3/4 Chrome line and not full chrome line.

I loose fit the Oil Filler Spout on then attempted to loose fit to the fitting, lo and behold the the fitting was touching the Neutral Switch Indicactor on the Baker OD6. So its back to the 3/4 Length Chrome/Rubber Line. That is why their was the 90 deg Barbed Elbow on the upper part of the spout.

As GMR pointed out I just may cover the rubber with SS Braid Line.

Thanks again for all of your help,

Aha, there was a method to the madness. Guess that knocks out the Chrome Spout. :bigcry:
