I guess I might as well jump into the middle of this.  I have looked and lusted for a RG since the SERG in 2000.  In 2001 I traded my 98 Ultra for a 01 Ultra because I could not find a SERG at the time.  After that I just forgot about them for a while.  In 2006 I was ready to get a new RG when I saw the Autumn Haze SEUC and I fell in love.  After 2 years, I'm ready to sell the SEUC and get a stock RG.  I love my SEUC, but I want to star with a clean slate and personalize a RG.  So, I too am converting to a RG rider and my 06 Autumn Haze SEUC is up for sale.

Pete, After my accident last year, with the settlement I could have purchased any bike I wanted. I ended up buying back my 98 RG, found a 00 SERG and cancelled my order for a new RG. If you get a new RG and get the optional painted detachable tour pack, painted lowers, bag guards, and shinny stuff your probably better off finding a low milage 00 or 01. I paid 19K for mine, but it was exceptionally complete and prestine and still a bargain as compared to getting a 08. I do miss not having a six speed tranny but that can be changed when I get around to it. BB and others have given you some good advise, enjoy your rental.  Doc
