Thanks again for the input, based on the info I am going to look @ the "Standard" Dual Tour. I like the Mustangs also, just wish they came in leather to help w/ cooler riding in the summer here in central TX.

Reb, this is strictly for comparison.  I've got three Corbins for the two bikes.  The SEEG specific seat and a Road King seat for the SEEG and the standard Glide seat for the Road Glide.  None are the "close" models and all three (though there is variation between them on where the "pocket" is) have me in a good spot (front to back).  Corbins on Road Kings before the SEEG were the same.

I've sat on two Road Kings and a SEEG with Corbin "close" saddles on them.  I'm between 5'9" and 5'10" and the "close" saddles are way too close for me.  Knees get raised.  Poor position throughout.

Thanks 2Lane

I have an 07 cvo ultra and purchased a heated seat from Corbin last year for it. My wife and I got pregnant and I only put about 400 miles on the seat in 07.
I never rode enough to get the feel of the seat - Everyone told me that you needed to put a 1000 miles on the corbin for it to break in - I just knew that my butt hurt and my wifes butt everytime we got off the bike.
I continued to ride the bike for another 1000 miles this year from April until June - the seat did not change I was in the dealership last Wednesday looking at buying a Zeppellin seat ( I have heard they are the best but they are big and raise you an inch off the bike - I am already on my toes so I cannot go another inch and my bike is lowered) I was telling the parts manager I just can't handle riding on this seat anymore the stock seat hurts after riding a while but the corbin is killing me.

I was at my wits end. I did not want to loose the $1000 I spent on the seat but the brakes and seat are the most important features on a bike for me (of course besides OCD and all the chit I didn't know about until I found this site :huepfenjump3:)and the seat had to go. Well this weekend my wifes family came to visit (7 women in the house) and I had an opportunity to ride so I rode 700 miles roundtrip to Oregon and back. Somewhere around 300 miles the seat actually became comfortable I cannot explain it but my butt actually fit the seat. It was amazing to me I rode in Hood River on Saturday for about 2 hours and no problems the seat felt great. BUT the true test was the 4 hour trip home I rode almost 400 miles back on Sunday and my butt did not hurt not at all, now my shoulders hurt a little, they always do on a long ride and my lower back hurt a little. I only stopped 3 times on the way home - I rode the first 100 miles through the national forest over Mt Rainier, I was glad I chose the heated option- I took my bike to the dealership to have my heated grips replaced they f*&ed up my grips and did not fix them so I had no heat on my hands but at least my azz was warm - it was slow winding road.

The last 300 miles I rode a combination of highway roads and interstate. The seat felt GREAT! It is still firm but my butt fits the seat the backrest feels comfortable.

If I would have repied last week I would have said from my experience make a different decision than the Corbin but now I would buy another Corbin.  I think I just needed to be in the saddle for an extended time really put some miles on the seat - most of the first 1000 miles were just short trips.

Good Luck on your seat.  Ride Safe -Tracy

I'm just shy of 5' 9" and the standard Corbin I tried on my '07 jester put me at least 2" back from my stock seat.  For me the stock seat has me positioned just right.  I like to sit up straight and not have to reach for controls.  With the Corbin it was like sitting in a recliner - not bad at all but just too far back.  Like you I am wondering about the 'close' version when the time does come to make a change.  For now (ususual as it seems) HQ and I fine the stock seat perfectly comfortable.  And yes we've done several 500 + mile days, including a couple well over 700 with no complaints about the seat.

BTW I noticed the same thing with the '09 seuc - the seat was farther back - more so than the Corbin even.  I had to reach for the controls on the demo ride.

Dumb question but new to RG's  Does the cvo RG use the same seat as the standard model, I know on the seeg I had they were different.  For you guys that have your CVO RG already does the seat work for you.  I'm 6 2 and like to sit back farther plus I think the RG is gonna look cool with solo, maybe a Danny Gray with passenger pillion.
Is the passenger backrest on a detach bracket?

For my 2 cents, whether you chose HD, Mustang or Corbin -- forgo the "close" seat and change the handlebars. I'm 5'9" with a short inseam (30" @ best) but have found that moving the bars closer and leaving the relationship of seat/pegs/tank unchanged is a better solution...

A lot of the 'position' of the standard vs. the 'close' model of the Corbin depends on the particular model of seat......even on the same bike, the different seats will place you in different positions relative to the bars and ground.  I've found, as mentioned above, that most Corbins place the rider a bit further back on the frame than the stock seat.  At least they do on the two bikes I currently have.  I've never tried a 'close' model, but would like to also, as they are suppose to narrow the nose of the seat a bit also to allow shorter legs a more direct approach to the ground.

Ok, does anyone here have the "close" version of the Corbin dual tour?
