Very nice looking, very good quility, great for around town but for long trips it is to hard. After 2 hours of riding I have to get off the bike. They claim it gets softer with time, I have 8000 miles on mine and it is just as hard as the first day I put it on. I will not buy on again.

I think it will be fine.  Hard seats are more comfortable than soft ones after a short time.  Any seat is going to get uncomfortable after a few hours.  I've tried gel inserts which also did nothing to improve the comfort over a long distance.  I thin a good Mustang or Corbin seat is as comfortable as one can get on a motorcycle.

I received my Corbin at the end of June. I opted for the heated dual tour. Found the seat getting more comfortable the more i used it.Corbin seems to have a firm ride but I am happy w/ it KB

If I where you I would save my money Corbin hasn't made a good seat in ten years... You could go get a "SOFT PIECE OF PINE" and make a better seat than a Corbin.  And over priced wow I really don't see how they stay in business.  Your butt will be sore after a few hours in the saddle but it shouldn't start to hurt in your own drive way before you leave.

Oh well that is just my opinion.

Thanks for the responses, and based on my limited experience (sitting) on a Corbin I can't argue with these comments.

I don't know your height, but I wouldn't recommend the "close" version unless you are a midget.

To say Corbin hasn't made a good saddle in 10 years is odd to me because I have used them for 20 years and see no difference in quality or feel. They work great for me.

I spend hours at a time horseback 5 days a week and I can say with certainty, no cowboy is ever going to ride a "soft" saddle. I rode from Ft Worth, Tx to Ashville, NC, 1100 miles stopping for fuel only in 22 hours on a 2008 SERK with Corbin last month and never had a complaint with it. 3 days later did same returning. Turned around a week later and rode from Ft Worth to Vegas non stop except fuel 1350 miles on Corbin and never had any issues. Rode back to Ft Worth back to back 600+ miles days. Stopped to sleep in road side park on a picnic table not because my azz was sore.

We went through two seats on my wife's bike and she always complained of discomfort. Last summer i bought her a Corbin. She love's it. The wining is gone. After riding her bike over a weekend, i decided her seat was pretty comfortable and ordered one up for my 08 Ultra. I ordered the Dual Tour seat four weeks ago this Friday, and still no seat.. man they are slow..Also I didn't realize i could have ordered the seat from Tri County, Jenny, and gotten a 20% discount. So if you order go through her, you save a ton of money..

A lot of guys get the Corbin and love them. If you find it to be to hard you can always get a gel strap on cover for the long rides. Boy am I going to get grief over the strap on part of that sentence or what? The other alternative is a custom made seat which will run around $1200 or so but you could have the gel insert in it. Good luck. :)

"A gel strap on", and where do You buy your motorcycle accessories??   :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

What I don't get,  is why you didn't edit your own post, Instead of subjecting yourself to the chit you knew would be forthcoming??

Seriously though, I suppose a gel strap-on is not as hard as other strap-ons!  :huepfenjump3:

I have a Corbin Dual Tour on my 07 SEUC. It is very firm. I tried a gel pad, I found I was more comfortable on the Corbin seat without the pad. Next I tried an air hawk pad. It was better than the gel pad. Overall, I find the Corbin to work the best without anything on it. I just need to take a break every 100 miles or so. The Corbin was a big improvement over the stock seat. Good luck

Ok, back to the original question:    HDCrazy specifically mentioned the "Close" model of the Corbin.  I have been putting off the inevitable event of buying a $Corbin$ seat.  Lately I have been pondering this forthcoming purchase and have wondered what the difference is between the regular seat and the "Close" version compared to the stock HD seat.

I am vertically challenged - 5'8" on a good day.  My position on the bike with the stock HD seat isn't too bad, but I don't want to move back any at all -- a little closer might not be a bad thing, but don't want to move a lot closer and be crowding the tank.  Anyone know the particulars compared to the stock seat?

Reb, this is strictly for comparison.  I've got three Corbins for the two bikes.  The SEEG specific seat and a Road King seat for the SEEG and the standard Glide seat for the Road Glide.  None are the "close" models and all three (though there is variation between them on where the "pocket" is) have me in a good spot (front to back).  Corbins on Road Kings before the SEEG were the same.

I've sat on two Road Kings and a SEEG with Corbin "close" saddles on them.  I'm between 5'9" and 5'10" and the "close" saddles are way too close for me.  Knees get raised.  Poor position throughout.
