Pete, the battery that site recommends for a late model Touring bike is a Yuasa AGM battery.  It's the same basic design as the stock Harley AGM battery, so the dealer's story is bogus.  The Harley battery tender (smart charger) will work just fine, you don't need the one this place sells.

Jerry, thanks for sharing that in-tel, I'll be getting the AGM battery now.It just gos to show you that your dealer is the one that should be there to help you. NOT the ones to be scam you ,lead you up the garden path, and BS you straight in your face. I told the guy I would be back in the new yr. after I got the cash together. I,ll be going back all right. I'll be putting a charge between his ears. Dam I'm pissed about this at him. THANKS AGAIN Jerry

Jay z, My apologies this started out on your thread if you've been keeping tabs I think your quesion got answered
and sorry for passing on the BS that I was fed. That's what makes this site so great all pitching in to to help and get it right when something not right.

WOW, I just priced one.
$276.00
At that price if you get just three years out of the Deca, that's nine years for the same price.
Or six years for a Harley battery.

Not only that Chip, but they don't mention a lot of the possible drawbacks to lithium cells either.  How many lead-acid AGM batteries have you seen recalled for safety concerns over the past few decades?  I don't remember any.  Now check how many lithium batteries have been recalled over just the past ten years, in everything from laptop computers to automobiles.

Maybe someday lithium or a variant will be the standard for batteries.  But for now, as I noted in a previous post, the best choice is an AGM battery (at least until Scotty creates a consumer version of the warp drive that uses dilithium crystals).

Thanks for all the info.  I'll probably go with the AGM bat. when it gets closer to Spring.  Most likely Deka.
