Disconnect of Power "ie" Pulling 40amp fuse (ALARM)
« on: April 30, 2010, 07:50:37 AM »

I'm currently installing the new J&M amp and I need to disconnect the battery to install the power for the amp. When I pull the 40 amp fuse the alarm starts screaming. I tried letting it go for 30 seconds and it just kept going on and off. So I put the fuse back in and reset the alarm with the ignition. Is there a trick to this sequence or should I let the alarm scream untill I pull the leads off the battery?.................................Fuzz

Thanks Doc, One question though. When I reinstall the fuse. Ignition on or off, or dose it matter?

I cannot speak for Doc but I reinstall the maxi fuse with the ignition OFF.

That worked here a week ago also Rich.  Travis had his bike over to add some goodies and the maxi fuse got pulled with the switch on and reinstalled with the switch off.  It worked.  It was probably just a good guess.  But it worked.

Pulling the leads off the battery will not stop the alarm from screaming...  The alarm has it's own battery...  I learned that the hard way a few years ago, just prior to reading the owners manual and learning how it all works....   ::) :P
