Boy! I was getting ready to go get me a new SE 2011 but after reading this I'm thinking I should go get me a Goldwing   NOT!!!


I will be more then happy taking all the Cheep parts off and replacing With the Good old USA Stuff.   What's the big Deal of having a $70k bike

My 2010 CVO Ultra Dark has been in the shop 2 weeks waiting for a new crank.
The dealer said that 4 new cranks will be shipped to them for the other 3 bikes that have bent cranks.
For a $40K bike to have a bent crank installed at the factory is UNACCEPTABLE!
With all of the engine & transmission problems the newer bikes have been experiencing, the quality control is down the crapper.
As a matter of fact, it's probably worse than when AMF took over the company years ago.
If everyone would write an e-mail to Harley complaining about their lack of quality control, MAYBE they may do something about it.
I have been riding bikes for 45 years, & I have never had a new bike that came from the factory with an engine or transmission problem.
This is the last Harley this I will purchase.
I still have my 2006 BMW R1200RT, which has been trouble-free.

So, The new crank came in yesterday with 3 others.
All 4 were out of spec & sent back to the factory again.
Not much for the factory quality control.
You would think that the factory would have measured the run out before they shipped them to the dealer.

Maybe the engineers upped the specs again to +/- 1/4".

It is now 5/16ths.

Well the factory sent out the second crank to the dealership & it was also out of spec.
The dealer was so frustrated, that they are sending it to a local shop in Sacramento to see if they can straighten out this crank.
I was offered a new engine, however I declined because I have no faith in the factory engines.
It would be my luck that the new engine has a bad crank.
I may eventually just sell this bike.

Found this in 2007 when I was changing the air cleaner.
Piss poor quality work. Shame on them. Can not believe someone stood there and drilled the screws into it looking right at the gasket.
