I had just put a new rear tire on my 10 SEUC and last weekend I was heading out through our mountains when I got a flat in the twisties. Like your story I had had this happen to me before but I couldn't believe it was a flat on my new Gold Plated Rear Tire. I finally got off the throttle and brought BLUU to a stop. In the deep new thread of the tire was this honkin Screw that had drilled all the way into the tire. Nothing like buying 2 new Gold Plated Rear Tires within 2 weeks.

Gold plated is right!
That sucks.
It's a good way to screw up the tire budget for a few months.
Sorry to hear that!

Run flat tires would be great.

Thank God you made OK, I have had to rear flats, one on the highway and one going into a harley dealer parking lot, and I thanked God both times for looking after me.

Run flat tires would be great.
Except for the add'l. costs, difficulty mounting, and the stiffer 'ride'.  spyder

Prolly cut it up as you were riding w/o enough air pressure while wobbling to the stop.  :nixweiss:  spyder

That was my thought Spyduh but that scares the chit outa me cause it indicates that the sidewall is made of cheese.

 :cherry:
I would have to take a long test ride to evaluate using (run flats) on a bike and I would be skeptical from the start.

Over the yrs,  I have had 3 Vettes and the current one has the run flats and it's the worst handling Vette I've ever driven.  In my opinion,  it's those damn stiff sidewalls and extra wide tires that make it that way.  If they would (negatively) effect my bike like I believe they have effected the ride on this Vette,  they would come off in a heart beat.

Day-hummm! Glad you came out of this one with nothing more than a tale and expense of replacing the rear tire.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Meant to add a final comment to this thread regarding the tire. Cycle Gear installed new tire for me. According to them if the tires cord/belt breaks it breaks straight across the tread. They were as perplexed as me that the break was rotational. Nobody could come up with a theory of what happened to the tire beyond  - -  well maybe somebody shot at you. Oh yeah, that gives me warm fuzzy feelings about riding in SoCal. Anyway, new tire and LD's running fine, life goes on.
