Yesterday I had a friend tell me during our ride that my RH taillight was not working . This morning I removed the saddlebag, unplugged the socket and first checked the plug to see if it was hot by turning on  the key and using a test light to check each terminal. Blue is running lights, brown is brake, and orange/yellow is turn. They all were hot. I then  removed the orange lock plate from the male connector, and applied some silicone  based dielectric compound(grease) to each of the female connectors inside the male plug. I then plugged it back in and it worked perfectly. I repeated the same process on the other side. I will let you know if this stays fixed. The plugs were put together dry from the factory and I assume they just vibrate and don't make good connection sometimes. I have read several posts here where some peoples lights did not work consistently and the dealerships are replacing the taillight or saying the electronic board was not working. Not at all sure this is the case. Anyway this procedure fixed mine at least for now and has saved me a trip to the dealership. Hope this is all it needs.

Here is an update to my own post-----------My fix did not work . At least not forever. Removed the light , called the dealership and they are sending me a new light fixture for the right side. Should have it in about a week. Power to the light but no matter what I try the envelope light will not illuminate. Printed circuit board inside is bad or something. Fixture will not take power on any terminal. I will post again when I get the new one and let you all know if it works. Left side is fine for now. I will keep an eye on it. CD

Lost my left rear on the Az. ride.  The dealership has ordered a new one today. :nixweiss:

They told me it was one of the male pins in the plug itself.  The new one came, they plugged it in and waa-laaa........it works just fine. :2vrolijk_21:
