Dyno work Fort Collins Colorado
« on: August 12, 2012, 10:16:32 PM »

Due to my health issues I  recently sold and shipped my CVO to my Son-in-law and daughter who live in Fort Collins, Colorado. They spent the day riding the Rockies up to and past altitudes exceeding 10 thousand feet.  In conversation and as follow  up to the ride today it was noted that the Bike seemed to  ping a lot and run hotter than normal up to 270 degrees on the temp indicator which is read straight off the sending unit in the oil pan through the gauge on the dash.  I would like to see the bike dyno tuned back there not knowing if there would be any required adjustments to the AFR needed for the altitude differences between Colorado and California. If anyone knows of a good dyno shop in the Fort Collins area that information would be great.  Also any info on AFR adjustments needed would be welcome information. I guess any information on either of these subjects would be more information that I have now..

Thanks Craig

The altitude difference fueling requirements should be handled automatically by the ECM.  If it was running fine before it should be running the same now, albeit with less power due to less atmospheric pressure filling the cylinders.  Effectively a smaller engine up there...

More info would be helpful on your (former) bike.
Is it bone stock?
Did it run fine at sea level?
FYI: My '10 has been from Death Valley to the top of Mt. Evans. It ran just fine throughout the trip.
I have a tuner, exhaust and intake upgrades and not much else. Ride 2-up loaded. No pinging (91 octane) AND the bike runs nice.

Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson in Fort Collins has a reasonably good reputation with a dyno...

Of course, if your bike is stock, you'll need to add a tuning device also...
