Looking for a solid Head/Cams package...
« on: December 20, 2011, 09:20:34 AM »

I'm looking to do some engine upgrades on my FLHXSE2.

I'll be located on the east coast and looking for a shop to do the work in the D.C. area.

Who would you all suggest supply the heads and cams.  Looking for 115-120rwhp/tq.

Fast FLHX, if you achieve that much horsepower and torque will you be doing any beefing up your crank? Just curious.CAHDBIKER

Since  you already have the Fullsac Stage I, why not just add to it for the Stage 2? You will be very close to your goals. If you want a little more, you can always have the heads done (something like a "street port"), low priced and simple. Get a cam to match if you like.......
Depends on how much power you want/can spend!
You would be surprised how well a good running 110 will feel, with about 115/120 numbers with very little work.
If you have a shop doing the work, ask tons of questions, and talk to some of the guys who had work done there.....do your homework.
There are a few shops on the East coast with good reputations. Give them a call.
Good luck with your project, and keep us posted!

Kind of a loaded question, huh? LOL
Haven't used anyone on the East coast, West coast I can think of a few.
I had my last porting job done by John Woods (deceased for years).

Ask around, call the shops (make sure they HAVE a shop!). How long they been in the business, etc, etc.

IMHO, I would not do headwork with your stated goals, just ride it! What we do here on the newer bikes is just a general port cleanup and good valve job. Works, and reliable.
You will still be near your numbers, give or take.
I sort of remember in the rest of the country everyone tears their bikes down in the winter. We don't do that here.
Hope this sort of steers you in the right direction.

I am working through the same issue.  I am considering having my HD dealer do the work in coordination with T-Man Performance.  T-Man's site has an approved dealer list on their site by state.  I won't go into the scope here, as I've posted it a thread.  Here's the link to my thread.....

They do provide a lot of different machining services, which can be part of a package.

Simple combination that will show that power is;
Heads re-worked
Wood TW-8-6 cam
58mm t/body
Good exhaust  :)

I just sent my heads to JPrecision in Quebec.  To notch racing prep to your heads. check out there web site. www.jprecision.com  If you are doing your cams, go with the Fueling high flow oil pump, high flow lifters, fueling high flow cam plate S&S cams and push rods. That would be a worth while upgrade. Cheers.
