I have a 2008 CVO Softail Springer that has the 105th Anniversary scheme of Crystal Copper and Black Onyx and includes gold leafing graphics.
I bought the Harley Spoiler that also runs and attaches under the frame rails. It came in the primed condition and I took it and had it painted by a guy that paints a lot of custom Harley's. I gave him the vin number and paint color (Crystal Copper) and hoped it would be an exact match.
I picked up the parts today and they are close to the Crystal Copper, but the metal flakes look like the are too deep in the color. I compared the parts to the bike and they are close to the same color as the frame, but the tins (gas tank and fenders) just seem to have the metal flake a little closer to the surface and you really get the effect in the sun.
My question is when you have a Harley color, does it give the painter the air pressure settings and how the metal flake should look?
I would have ridden the bike to the paint shop, but it is some 50 miles away and just wasn't convenient to ride and carry the parts with me. I may need to try and remove one of the tins and drop it by the painters shop for side-by-side comparison.
